    Isaiah Thomas
    Age: 25 | 5'10.25" 185 lb. | PG
    20.3 PPG | 3.0 RPG | 6.3 APG | 20.5 PER | 111 DRtg

Sam Amick reports that the consensus around the League is that his value/market is $4m-$6m/per.

Even though he put up numbers like an All-Star you're not going to go deep in the playoffs when your PG is this small. Sacramento knows it and has made it clear that they want to upgrade this spot. Hence the reason why his value around the league is, at most, the MLE.

He's the new era Dallas-JJ Barea. He's a guy that will come in and score. A change of pace guy.

Is he really a change of pace from Dame, though?

this is not the type of player we need to or should focus on, rather pick up a guy like Sessions (or others) for the BAE or less and go after a Jordan Hill with most of the MLE. I'd love to get Hawes but unless we do a sign and trade wuth CLE he is likely going to go for 7-8 mil per yr. Also a guy like Kaman could be had for the BAE or cheaper and the is an Olshey connection there

IMO given what we have to spend and our needs he is not the a guy we should target

I still think the perfect backup guard for the Blazers is Kirk Hinrich.

Our needs are for quality bench players right, specifically we need a backup PG to replace Mo Williams. I think Thomas fits the bill.

I'd like to see a defense oirentated back-up PG.
Perhaps someone in the mold of a Greg Anthony?

we juts disagree, yes we need a backup PG, but not one that will likely cost a minimum of 5 mil per yr when IMO there are a lot cheaper solid choices available, we have other more pressing needs

I am confused by these two statements. Didn't Dallas win a championship with Barea? Maybe he meant as a starter (But then again SA won a championship with Avery Johnson as a starter.

I can see the benefits of going after I Thomas, but a taller PG is my preference mainly because CJ is a short SG and Damian can play SG as well.

    JJ was their 6th man.

Kidd was the starter. Kidd played heavy minutes during their run.

A taller SG won't be able to lend any height to CJ.

Sorry I thought the comment came from Amick. But for comparison purposes Lillard is our starter and will play major minutes, so it would be the same.

I would not mind signing someone like Carson as the third PG and getting someone taller like Livingston with MLE money as the BU

No but a taller PG helps if he can cover most SG's. (allowing CJ and Damian to cover the PG's when they are at the 2)

Actually Stuckey is my first choice as long as he can play PG. What is the consensus on that? Can he run a team and facilitate the offense? I love the way he attacks the basket. If he really is a PG then I am all in for that choice. The word combo guard worries me. It usually means they can play the point.....in a pinch.

combo guards or however you want to define them are becoming more the norm as the era of the pure past first PG fades away, is Stuckey "good enough" to play PG (or Dame's backup) as a backup role? I think so, Sessions is also a slasher but probably a better PG than Stuckey, but is 6'3 vs Stuckey's 6'5"

It would be hilarious watching the pants Shitting party if we signed Thomas after a couple of games. Mo Williams is who we need to resign. Use the mle on others (like Frye, or Jordan hill, or Paul pierce) and try to resign Mo with the non bird exception

I like Thomas. He can definitely score the ball. I can't recall how he does at running an offense and getting others involved, though. I want a back-up PG who can do that - run an offense. That's far more important than a defensive PG who can't run an offense. Until we have a back-up PG who can run an offense our bench will never work well.
