Whenever we have expiring contracts or cap space we get jack shit for it in terms of trades. But Denver gets one of the better SGs in the league for a freaking bench player???
He was the one exception. Maybe Gerald Wallace since he had a good year and we ended up trading him for Lillard.
This statement by Jackson is one of the reason's why I can't see him succeeding in the front office. When he was a coach he would say things to the press that were calculated. They were meant to motivate his players (or the refs) in some way. You can get away with it if you are winning, but I would be shocked if this type of approach worked with Melo, even if what he is saying is spot on: "Jackson reiterated on Thursday that his preference is to re-sign Anthony while making it abundantly clear that the club is looking to negotiate a contract that benefits both parties. Just short of pounding his fist on the lectern and saying “read my lips; no max deal,” Jackson challenged the Knicks free agent forward to demonstrate that he’s a team-first guy by taking less. “He’s the one that opened that up that it wasn’t about the money,” Jackson said before the NBA draft. “So I challenged him on that because I want our fans to see he’s a team player, that he’s going to do what was best for this team to get ahead farther and faster" - See more at: http://hoopshype.com/rumors.htm#sthash.jaSsMV2Q.dpuf Jackson as we know has a big ego. He is going to want to save face with NewYorkers at the players expense. It is going to be interesting to follow. I say he fails big time and I am glad he is not in Portland.
I can't help laughing. For years in Oakland when the Warriors stank, not just every fan (fans always inflate their teams' attractiveness) but sports media were SURE every free agent was just dying to come here. Well, they are at it again. The local sports show was not just talking about the deal for Kevin Love, which may happen. They also were saying hey, now the Warrios should nab Rajon Rondo and Patty Mills (who of course is DYING to leave San Antonio!) And if LeBron wants to leave Miami (four Finals appearances, two titles), well, that would be either a return to Cleveland or if he wants to go to a winner, Chicago, Houston or Golden State. Funny how all three teams were out in the first round. But according to Warriors media, LeBron is panting to come to a real winning situation like they have here. Ah well, I needed some entertainment.

I look at that a different way. I dont think Jackson thinks Carmelo is coming back nor does he want him back. The way he is doing it gives him a way to put the blame on Melo instead of having to shoulder the blame when Melo leaves.
