I doubt Saint Louey would even take him back for a dime and a prayer...! I never liked this move, or acquisition, before it was made, and still in negotiations, a bad move on Cashman's part, IMHO...! I'd of rather seen Austin Jackson retained years ago, in the Grandy trade. With the addition of Ellsbury, and piggy backing of Ichiro, we would of never needed Beltran.
I never cared much for Granderson, Ellsbury was a for sure upgrade. Gardner, Ellsbury, and Ichiro are a damn fine outfield. I reserved my opinion on Beltran but still think McCann is showing improvement at the dish, love the way he handles the staff.
It's only a matter of time for McCann. I quit buying the hype - "he's got to adjust to AL pitching as a hitter". Brian's seen every pitcher several times now, and should of adjusted, and IMHO, will in due time. I don't get his offensive year of 2012 tho'....a .230 B'Avg. His high of .333 in 2006, and lifetime of .274 (includes the results of this year.) I'm sure his adjusting will be in his own time, not mine, or my expectations, yet he's been to good of a Player, and has youth on his side.
I still want to believe that McCann is getting acclimated to a new team, new league & new pitchers & that eventually he'll come around. But the deeper we get into the season the less likely I see that happening. As far as Beltran, he needs to shut it down & get the surgery because he's not helping anyone the way he is.
I confess, I've given up on Carlos, never liked the acquisition to begin with, just MY Opinion, or 2 cents, and that won't buy a stick of bubble gum anymore. (grinning)
I, for one, am surprised at Beltran... I didn't like the signing because I thought it was both too much money and too many years... but didn't mind him on the team... I thought he would have been a nice addition for the post-season assuming we could get there again... As far as McCann, I do believe he is still getting acclimated to a new team, new division, new league, etc.
