According to the Post they are both arbitration eligible which means they could sign 1 year deals and be UFA's in 2015. That would not be good

Dis your TBD on the 4th is probably going to be Carcillo at a hit just under a million. That what all the talking heads see happening at least.

Do we really see Miller as a 4th line guy? And I think Brassard is going to end up closer to 4.5...do we really want to pay a 3rd C that? Maybe we can flip Brassard for relief, that'll give us room to grab Stasny and bring back D.Moore for the 4th.

    Stasny-Stepan-Miller-Moore could work.

Yeah Miller is prob more of a 3 then a 4 but I really don't want to lose Brassard. He had great chemistry with Zuc, that was our best line last year. I think Pouliot is replaceable, Brassard they need IMO

So if thats the case and I think it is also why would either of them sign a bridge contract. We need both especially kreider and slats is gonna have to ante up a lot more than the 2.2 I'm reading in the papers for kreider

I don't think it works that way. Look at O'Reilly on the Avs. He can't become a UFA until after two more seasons, not after next season.

Kreider is young, and UFA status doesn't come naturally until after a player is 27, so I doubt he can be a UFA after next season just by going to arbitration this summer.

I am not 100% sure how it works, but I see no way the NHL owners allow players like Kreider to go to arbitration once and then become UFA's at 23 or 24.

Now if it does go to arbitration, which I doubt for Zucc and Kreider, and the Rangers walk from the award, then Kreider becomes a UFA right now, but that won't happen.

MAYBE this is how it works.

When you actually go through arbitration the arbitrator offers the player 1 and 2 year deals after hearing the case. Whichever deal the player selects becomes binding UNLESS the team declines the award and then the player becomes a UFA right then and there.

SO if the player accepts the 1 year deal instead of the 2 year deal maybe that means the next summer he is an RFA again (unless he is 27 by the following July 1st), and then he can go through arbitration again potentially, but can select the 1 year deal and then become a UFA the following season.

That is why at 23 O'Reilly would have to wait two more seasons to become a UFA if he goes through arbitration this summer. I would guess it is the same for Kreider if he gets all the way to arbitration, which is unlikely. He could be a UFA in two seasons I THINK.

Both Brassard and MZA will be 27 by next July 1st, so I am thinking if they just take 1 year deals this summer, they will both be UFA's next summer no matter what (arbitration or simply agreeing to a 1 year deal without arbitration).

That's a guess by me, but seems to make sense.
