Mats Zuccarello said today that he wants the Rangers to remain competitive so he won’t “push” his salary to the maximum and it’s more important to him to be locked up in a long-term deal. (Nettavisen) Zuccarello said that he hopes for 3-4 years and thinks that he has become part of the core. He said that a long-term deal would show confidence from the organization and help him play better. (Nettavisen) He added that he will listen to what his agent said but that a deal could be done in days or end with arbitration. (Nettavisen) Nettavisen is a norwegian newspaper The hobbit has spoken
Yeah, he is being awesome about this. 4 years 2.5 or so per and get it done, maybe 3 per. No reason to rake the Rangers over the coals. 10-12 mill over 4 years should work. Zucc knows he will be set for life with that, and he wants to win.
Great to hear from Zucc. Guy knows what it takes. I know it's kind of early to start guessing line combinations, but what do we think about putting Zucc with Nash? If you remember early in the year when Nash was out, Zucc was on the top line with Step and Kreider and they played pretty damn well. It's not a coincidence that when Zucc moved with Brassard and Pouliot, that line clicked too. Say we sign Stasny, who's got a scoring touch of his own..a Zucc-Stasny-Nash combination could be interesting. Then Kreider-Stepan-St.Louis. I know people want to keep him with Brassard but I honestly don't see Brassard staying if we end up with Stasny. Just a thought.
The only comment I will add is I will be shocked if we sign Stastny. That seems to be the common comment in here, say we sign Stastny, but I just don't see it. Maybe I will be wrong though.
Who knows. Either way, glad Zucc seems to be taking the McDonagh route. How good does that contract look now?
Just like all the bad news and the end of the world cap hell, I wont get overly excited until he puts on paper what he says he want.this too can be a ploy to the fans, hey I wanted to come back on a fair deal ..they didnt want me
Yeah, that Mcdonagh contract will be a great one for sure. As for Zucc, Al is right that we need to see him sign first, but it is refreshing to hear someone say that flat out. I am guessing somewhere in the low to mid 3's gets it done over 3 or 4 years, and that would be real good for us. Brassard, Pouliot, and Kreider interest me the most after we get Zucc done. Where will they be at on their demands? I am figuring Stralman and Boyle gone, but where do these 3 end up? We know Brass and CK will be back as RFA's, but at what cost? Pouliot could go either way. And it sounds like D. Moore will be gone, maybe to TB. Shame because I liked him, but we simply cannot afford anything more than 1.5 tops for him.
