Of course this is based strictly on WHAT IF?........... IF, half 2 = half 1..................... Gardner..................14 / 62 / 286 Jeter........................4 / 40 / 273 Ellsbury....................8 / 68 / 288 Teixeira...................30 / 82 / 242 Beltran....................16 / 48 / 219 McCann...................18 / 72 / 221 Soriano...................12 / 46 / 228 Solarte....................12 / 60 / 264 Johnson..................10 / 38 / 224 Ichiro.......................0 / 20 / 291 Tanaka = 22-6 2.10 ERA 254 Ks, 230 IP Kuroda = 10-10 4.23 ERA Robertson 38 saves 3.08 ERA TEAM ---------- 2013 = 85-77, 650 RUNS, 144 HRs, 115 SBs, 242 BA, 307 OBP, 376 SLG% 2014 = 82-80, 652 RUNS, 138 HRs, 116 SBs, 252 BA, 316 OBP, 382 SLG%
First gut reaction is Egaadzooks, holy cow...not good...! Yet, I'm praying to the Bambino's ghost, glory will return in the Bronx, by the Trade Deadline....I got a feeling Cashmans job could be on the line if the Yanx don't take at least a Wild Card. Not the greatest GM, yet Cash, has made some decent trades, acquisitions in years past....as much he's also been outdone by other GM's....let's hope for the prior. If the latter happens, lets dump Cashman in the Hudson...."let him eat with the fishes".
He better be or else I'm going to start thinking the the Steiner boys are getting some fringe benefits from Cashman.
The stat that really stands out are the TEAM totals in the OP. After spending over $400M on free agents you not only expect to be better then the year before but you should be a lot better. Instead this team has basically produced the same.
I've been okay with the 1st halves of Gardner, Jeter & Ellsbury but I really don't want to see anyone else duplicate there 1st half.
