Re: Top 5 Things the Knicks MUST Do! Well, I've been watching the Knicks a lot this year, and there are many glaringly obvious things wrong with this team. despite that, the team has a TON of talent. Here is my list of must-do's:1) Get the PG/SG situation handeled. Right now the Marbury/Francis/Crawford things isn't working. The offense has become extremely stagnant with iso's, and no movement of the ball at all. IMO, I would trade Steve Francis and Crawford, and leave Marbury with the Knicks. I know that with those huge contracts it won't be easy, but this league is full of teams in need of PG's and scorers, and I am sure they could be dealt, even if not for much. I feel Crawfod is definately the one that needs to go the most, and it is a tossup between francis and Marbury. I feel marbury is bette rin open court, and better playmaker, and will fit in better with the plan I will explain in a bit.2) KEEP: Nate Robinson, Channing Frye, David Lee, Quentin Richardson. Nate will never be starter material, but I feel he will be fantastic off bench once he becomes a bit more polished (he already is great off bench, but he can get better). Channing Frye has the talent to become a 20PPG guy/all star, and with some better coaching and him getting more agressive, he can achieve that potential. David Lee, if he can become a better offensive player, could be a very nice PF who is very scrappy, gets a lot of rebounds, etc... And Quentin Richardson is this team's best defender, best 3pt shooter, and next to Marbury best pure scorer. He works hard and has been great.3) Need more big men. Right now this team is undersized, and Eddie Curry just isn't a good enough rebounder/defender/intimidating presence to be the starting center. This was apparent against the Rockets when Yao totally manhandeled him, and tonight when Cavs had a crapload of offensive rebounds. I feel if somehow they can get Francis and Crawford out of NY, they could get a few decent big men, and through draft and FA signings get more big men. 4) Operate a run and gun offense. Let's say they get rid of Crawfod and Francis....that leaves Marbury who is a very good fastbreak player, Richardson who thrives on getting 3's off fastbreak (see Suns 04-05), Nate who runs well, Frye who could do well in transition, etc... Assumning they don't get a great big man, this will be the best way to put a lot of points up, as in halfcourt this team isn't amazing and defense isn't top notch.5) New coach/GM. Isiah is just horrible.
Re: Top 5 Things the Knicks MUST Do! well said. I hate to say it but crawford is not getting it done. he was great last season but this year he just went back to the old jamal crawford, chucking up bad shots, not gettin his team involved and too much dribbling. francis is a good player but he's the same as crawford and marbury. having three guys that play the exact same way in the same backcourt isn't gonna work EVER. especially guys that rely on their offense. I think we will be much better if at least one of the three were to go. I think it would be too difficult to trade two of them. but we need to stop playing street ball. everything is 1 on 1 instead of 5 on 5. play like a team, isiah's gotta get that through his head. he seems to coach like he's a fan not a coach and that's not gonna get us where we want to be. we need a coach that is respected by his players and teaches them to play like winners.
