As of now, pool winners are 7 for 7 in elimination-round matches. The 16-team elimination format has been in place since 1986--never before have all pool winners won their opening elimination-round match. I think Belgium makes it 8 for 8.
It is a bizzaro world where I am a little nervous NOT to see Beckerman out there. I think the line up is: Howard Johnson - Gonzo - Besler - Beasley Bradley - Cameron - Jones Zusi - Dempsey - Bedoya Not sure how the mid 3 lines up, but I assume Cam will be the DCM, with Jones and Bradley playing more of a box to box role.
Just read that the lineup is a little different. Cam is Right back (where he plays for Stoke) and Fab is in midfield. Maybe our midfield will be: Jones - Bradley - Johnson (or Jones/Johnson flipped). I like Bradley sitting further back, so this might be a good change for him and hopefully moving Johnson up a little will spark our attack.
We just need to contain Hazard and De Bruyne... Easier said then done but I have a feeling we win this 2-0.
Whoa, Zusi is in the middle 3 and Johnson is up top as a winger. Of course, ESPN is saying Cameron is Dmid, so who knows.
Man, sometimes it's hard to watch our team. I love watching Germany and their tactics and precision. We are always just scampering about. When we score it seems like it was luck.
Though I agree, what do you expect when we are playing against teams made up of 20mil+ players. I think Jozy is our only player who has ever been transferred for even half that.
