Last year he averaged 1.6 3FGM. Those won't win us games. I'd rather have Olynick. Or better, Earl the Pearl "Greg" Monroe.

Olynyk is what we hoped Leonard would play like a solid contributor for 20 or so minutes a game.

Hawes is a good passing big similar to McRoberts but his overall offensive skill set is much better. He would provide a nice veteran presence on the bench and his outside game would allow him to pair easily with Robinson.

Biggest issue in signing him would be Leonard, who would find himself completely buried on the bench again.

Our bench is very young and very much needing experience. If we bring in any player of consequence it will cut into one of their minutes. Not a good enough reason to not get better.

At the age of 22, Hawes had a PER of 12.8 in his 3rd year in the league. As a rookie at the age of 22 years old, Olynyk had a PER of 15.2....

    just sayin....

I would agree with this, but watching what happened with Jermaine Oneal this has to be a potential concern even if it is a minor one.

That's 4 points, how many games did we lose by 3 or less? And whose to say he won't shoot more of them in Stott's system?

Someone hit a key point. If you watch San Antonio their style of play doesn't change when they go to the bench. All players rotate in and it is virutally seamless. If we loaded up our 2nd unit with guys drastically different in terms of style then our overall team efficiency goes down. If a player gets injured our system gets rocked.

Yes, exactly. You can't just play Freeland or TRob behind LMA because neither is suitable for that style of play. You can kind of play Freeland behind Robin, though... this is why I'd love Frye or Hawes... someone with some range backing up LMA is right useful.

Trob + Hawes of the bench dynamically is similar to LMA + Robin

Yes, Hawes would be the stretch shooter while TRob bangs inside.

TRob still is orders of magnitude worse at defending the paint in the effective and boring way that Robin does.

I think Stotts would go with a 2-man committee consisting of TRob and Freeland with Hawes. Find out which combo will be more effective.

Yes he is "still" much worse defensively than Lopez, but he's going into his third year. And as we all know, bigs take much longer to develop. What T-Rob "does" have is a beastly frame and motor to be aggressive. That's something you really can't teach. As his mind levels out with his frame, he will be a monster.

Plus this will be his first real summer knowing he's on the same team. I think he knows the city of Portland loves him and the moment he can improve on his game, he will be loved even more.

Adding anti year contract for Hawes scares me. You win with stars and all he does is eat into cap space next year.

If he's getting 10 mil a season, then you right on the money. I just don't think Hawes will get that type of offers, but if he does, then I doubt Blazer Brass would move on.

On an MLE deal Hawes can be easily moved at any time if need be.
