That has FAR less to do with subs being carbon copies of another player's style and FAR more to do with having a simple yet effective offensive system and a lot of players with high IQ.

They don't have another player with high post passing skills like Diaw. They don't have another real post threat other than Duncan. They, like us, don't have real PG's but rather just scorers that can shoot at wings and a 3 & D guy in Leonard.

Getting a passing/shooting big like Hawes/McRoberts would work well b/c it gives Stotts options. A guy like that can feed lamarcus on the block, compensate for poor distributors at guard if you want to play CJ and Barton, compensate for a poor shooter at another position if you want to play Barton or Robinson, etc. AND if he can guard the post, then he's a great fit with Robinson, who should be down low on offense and guarding the elbows/top of key on defense.

I think Hawes would be down low and T-Rob would guard the 4's and jump out on pick n roll while Hawes stays home.

Hawes is not known for his defense.

How many guys who are also are stretch-shooting big men with great passing skills? Not everyone can do everything. I think Hawes would be at least competent against bigs (many being backups) down low. He's got the size to body guys, never going to be an amazing help defender, but that's ok.

Yep. If he was a great defender he would be priced out of our MLE range. If we can nab him, it's a huge boost to the bench. Whenever LA or Rolo had to sit down last season, the drop off in talent is just embarrassing.

His offense allows him to sub in for LaMarcus and get us some scoring off the bench while TRob, Freeland or Rolo protect the paint. We need bench scoring and ball movement when the starters rest. I think Hawes or McBob fit that bill pretty well.

McRoberts literally sucks at everything except passing (for a big man). I hope we don't get him.

He was pretty good at being at defending physical big men in the playoffs. I'm still not enamored with him as a signing, but we could do worse (Kaman).

Yeah, he was so good they got swept without even putting up much of a fight.

Al Jeff's injury and their overall crappy offense was a bigger factor.

Wow, a highlight play. Now I'm convinced.

I disagree up to a point. They have Splitter for one style of play and the Red Rocket for another. So we could have Lopez be our Splitter and Frye/Hawes be the outside gunner.

(Plus: Ginobili is unique. You're not telling me he does the same things as Danny Green?)

Hawes' defense against Dwight Howard. Though just a highlight out of thousands of clips where his defense wasn't great but this shows his defensive potential.

Well, I watched a lot of the their first round, and McBob was very serviceable off the bench. His post-season stats:

    11.5 ppg, 6.8 reb, .455 fg%, .471 3pt%

Very interesting! The Blazers are going to have to deal with D12 for the foreseeable future.

Dude averaged 10/5 per 36 as a starter on the season. I mean Holy shit, stats aren't everything but if he could barely produce as a starter I can't imagine what he could do as a bench player.

He's a player that they hardly run any plays for. He's there to crash the board, play D and generally get the hell out of Al Jefferson's way. He would be a good compliment to LA in that respect.
