Yea for using EFG which is geared towards 3 point shooter. A 3 point shooter will always have a better eFG% then a non 3 point shooter that isn't a center that all they do is dunk.

being a 3 time All Star & a 2 time All NBA Player is much more of a claim to fame, obviously. This anti-LA rant you're on seems too silly to be real

It's not "geared towards" anything. It simply incorporates the fact that the 3pt shot is worth more points, so shooting the 3pt at 33% = shooting the 2 at 50%. If you look at a ranking of eFG%, you'll see a good mixture of guards, forwards and centers.

Why do you think NBA teams are gearing their offenses more and more towards taking 3s and getting inside? It's because those shots are much more efficient.

Fans like to vote guys in that get numbers, and LaMarcus has big games every once in awhile that will draw a coaches attention. The problem is that in the long haul he's not efficient, and he doesn't make up for it on the defensive end either.

That's funny because so far you have brought up nothing to counter my points. If you want to have a "realistic debate" try making some points beyond "ooh you're so dumb for thinking that".

Keep in kind he is seeking $100m+ next summer.

    He scored 23ppg on 21fga this year -- career: 19ppg on 16fga.

Sinobas has brought up some valid points.

I have brought up points. And I know how well our offense is run when Aldridge is on the court.

Think about this... All the games we've lost in the playoffs where games when Aldridge had a poor performance.

    Can't sign yet. But, yeah.

    Adjust expectations accordingly. ;)

Solid pickup for what we had to spend, really.

If I were coaching the Blazers I'd have Wesley Matthews shoot an open corner 3 pointer every possession. Our coaches must be idiots!

How did the Blazers beat the Rockets four times then? The Rockets only shoot 3's and layup the two most efficient areas on a basketball court.

I'll tell you what I think... what matter is the incremental FG% on where an available shot comes from.... Often a 40% shot can be very efficient.

When you have a bunch of 90% layups comingled with 30% shots it paints a false picture that a 50% FG player can get a 50% shot on any attempt. That is not the case.

Also you have to look at turnovers, offensive rebounding, etc etc. LaMarcus has extremely low turnovers for a 20ppg scorer so he can shoot 7% lower FG% but be more efficient than a comparable player.

There is a premium on centers and I think teams getting into a slap fight over Hawes is a good example of that.

Hawes is a role-playing stretch five. He's at his ceiling -- a solid backup who could step in and start if needed.

Monroe has all-star potential and not even close to his ceiling. His strong point is his passing and low-post scoring - he has played with weak talent outside Drummond. That's why I think he would've blown up in Portland.

You give up Batum or Wes for Monroe IMO. If Neil viewed that as a non-starter this is a huge missed opportunity. How many times does a 24 y/o center of his caliber hit the market? The only reason why he's on the market is because Drummind is turning into one if the best rebounders we've ever seen.

I would trade Wes because I think Wes is going to get overpaid next summer. Better to trade him now as part of a deal that helps the team long term. Someone is going to give him some stupid contract, especially with the overall lack of talent in free agency next summer.

Didn't Van Gundy say he'd do whatever it took to keep Monroe but Detroit was rumored to be shopping Smith to the Kings?

Where a few days ago I was very much against the idea of trading Batum (don't think Detroit wants Wes), I am starting to think twice about that scenario.

Locking up Monroe for 4 yrs oppose to maybe having Batum for only 2 yrs. Still love the starting unit and hate to see that broken up, but what you say makes sense to me. Wish I knew more about Monroe, but that is what Olshey is for

Also agree that Hawes is just a role player. I'm actually not that upset Blazer don't get Hawes as much as I think it was a reality check for me that Blazers are not a highly desirable destination for players.

Still don't like Kaman, but whatever, Blazers have t-rob, Freeland and Leonard to make up for that mistake. :)

Unlike Hawes and Kaman, Monroe has Aldridgian upside. To get a better starter, you gotta be ready to trade a popular starter stuck in a rut like Batum. Blazer fans lack the old risk-taking get-up-and-go.
