I wanted Hawes too, but it became clear it was not going to be for the MLE. Too many teams have extra cap space. We did accomplish what we wanted and that was depth at center if Robin got hurt, and we still have TRob who I thought would be the carrot in order to get Cleveland to help out with the sign and trade. Kaman is no stiff, he is a former all star. He just needs to stay healthy and along with Joel give us 15 minutes a game.

Didn't Kaman sit out half a season because he had attitude and a team didn't want him around?

When you put it in terms of dollars per games played, it's not pretty. Hopefully Stackpole can work his magic.

Well, we got a poor man's Hawes.

At least we won't see LMA playing center when Lopez is in foul trouble.

Pierce would have been horrible. Your posts' dreams suck.

Damjan Rudez agreed to sign for a one year $1.1 million deal by Indiana. Ben Gordon agreed to sign for a similar contract over 2 years but only $9 million which is slightly less.

CJ Miles, Patty Mills, Thabo Sefolosha agreed to sign for less money per season but for 3 or 4 years so their contracts were more money in total.

Except for the never been to the NBA Rudez one thing those other palyers all have in common is they are guards.

Like Gasol, he didn't get playing time and having been a Clipper for so long, he just hates the Lakers anyway, that's a plus in my book. At the end of the season he had an allstar like game and put up huge numbers knowing he'd be gone soon

I'm starting to think this may be RoLo part deux: The bench guy. Motivation does crazy things.

I tried to get a comment from a person that this has happened to, but he's currently unavailable.

The New Orleans Hornets told center Chris Kaman to stay home in January while they attempted to work out a trade for him and continued trying to swing a deal until the NBA trade deadline, but GM Dell Demps said Thursday that his intention now is to keep the big man.

"We're open to everything. We value Chris," Demps told The Times-Picayune. "The door's not closed on him. I think he's had a good season. He's proven he can score the basketball. As we move forward, he's been very impressive, especially in the last few weeks. The door is not closed on Chris. We'll have his Bird rights this summer, so we think there's a lot of opportunity still with Chris."

Kaman, who turns 30 next month, can become a free agent after the season. He has started New Orleans' last 17 games and has double-doubles in 12 of them.

The Hornets acquired Kaman before the season as part of their return from the Clippers for point guard Chris Paul.

OK so it wasn't so much Kaman had attitude as much as NO told him to stay home while they tried to trade him. I thought I read that he was bitching about playing on the team after traded to them, but can't find it.

I hope Olshey and company (Kim) know what hell they are doing, but the contract shows they really aren't signing him thinking they are getting a player who is here to stay. Maybe he can help this year is what it says . . .

Again, like with Hawes, Stotts loves 7 foot shooters. Another big who makes freethrows as well

If he had played 82 games last season, would his production be worth $10 Mil? Then $5 Mil for giving you half a season is still overpaying.

IMHO, they should have spent the MLE on the best available PG and brought in somebody cheaper and healthier to split time with Freeland. But then, I'm not sure why signing Kamen has people talking about getting rid of Freeland. :dunno:

Do you think thats a mistake? I think Livingston would be horrific in a Stotts 3 point shooting offense. He's hit ten three pointers in his CAREER.
