...the elbow scares me...guess we'll just have to see what he looks like in rehab.

If it's just a salary dump, maybe..... cause Lord knows he is getting paid a boatload.....

But if it were a more traditional trade, I don't like it as it will further weaken our farm & add on to our already excessive team salary...

Is he still a great pitcher, yes... but he'll be an expensive band-aid

...^^^ big money for this year and next, but he'll have to really pick up the pace if he wants that 2016 vested option to kick in..

...but yeah, like you said, I'm not sure Philly can realistically get much in return for Lee...between his injury questions and his salary, it's a little scary.

In addition to getting someone Cashman must also get rid of someone. Getting tired of seeing the Yankees run Soriano out there, and Kelly Johnson has got to get gone as well. Going to be interesting to see how this plays out.

...yeah, I'm sure they offered the Cubs a good package of prospects and I know the Cubs could use a catcher...but Chicago felt differently I guess.
...but as far as getting Lee, I don't think he'll merit much in return considering his elbow problem and his salary.

He's making 25M this season & is due another 25M next season. With a 27.5M option for 2016. That's a shit load of money to take on which IMO you may not see much of a return on with his bad arm. Not sure I'd like to see the Yanks take on that chance.

...I think Russell was about the 7th highest rated prospect...or something like that.

11 on the MLB website, 4th highest SS, actually the cubs have a higher rated SS in their system as well. Oh, and no pitching...so this deal is very curious.

Also don't they already have a pretty good proven SS in Stalin Castro?

with that in mind, fuck Peter Gammons for helping derail the 2004 trade-to-be, because that would've probably been enough to see that team win a World Series; certainly wouldn't have blown 3-0 in that ALCS (not that it's really an excuse regardless, but still...).

Dan, in the case of CLee, he actually knows how to pitch with the stuff he has on any given day. The little unit, no so much.

Again, if its a cash deal and a PTBNL...I'm all for it. The guy can eat a lot of innings.

I'd rather see Chris Sale, available over Cliff Lee....his elbow also scares me...!

    Here's some rumored trading block pitchers;

    David Price
    Cole Hamels
    Jon Lester
    Ian Kennedy,
    Cliff Lee
    Scott Feldman
    Jorge De La Rosa,
    Erik Bedard

...and maybe even Burnette (ducks and runs for cover)
