Marc J. Spears @SpearsNBAYahoo Warriors free agent guard Jordan Crawford is receiving interest from Bulls, Mavs, Lakers, Knicks & Nets, the source said.
He's not a gritty enough player to make up for his low 3pt shooting %. I do like him though, but we need better shooting, IMO. Better than Hinrich!
He's averaged decent, albeit inconsistent numbers. However, he is getting to the point that his getting shuffled team to team may be a red flag.
At PG, I'd rather have Hinrich. Better defender and better 3pt shooter. At SG, I'd rather have Butler. Much better defender, 3pt shooting isn't that much worse.
See Crawford's stats with Boston last year? 15.7 PER, 5.7 APG, .413 FG%, 13.7 PPG. He has a future, as he's 25 years old. Kirk was a better 3pt shooter only.
And a better defender. But it's not about Hinrich to me, I'm just not into Crawford. I think we can do much better for a back-up PG/SG. Then again, I have a lot of faith in Snell having a breakout year, so I could easily be wrong...
I couldn't agree more, he just looks so much like a young Pip when he's handling the ball. Obviously he won't be THAT good, but I really like the looks of his game. Like you said, if he plays with confidence that will make a big difference.
I think the Bulls desperately need Snell to pan out. It sure wouldn't hurt. On the other hand, would you bank on him as a rotation player to start the season?
A rotation player? Sure, why not- a guy who plays 5 minutes a night is a "rotation player" if he plays 5 minutes each and every night, right? I think it depends on who else the Bulls sign- if they don't add a Stephenson or Ariza, he'll have to play 5-10 minutes a night backing up Butler at SG, and that's assuming MDJ and McDermott take all 48 minutes at SF.
I didn't see Snell as a rotation player. He got PT because of injury and Lu got traded. He was 10th on the team in MPG, indicating he was 10th man. The year before, our rotation guys got 20+.
Actually, I was making a bad joke about this year, that if he gets 5 minutes a night every night... ah screw it, obviously it wasn't funny. Last year, he wouldn't have seen the floor if not for injuries and the Deng trade, but this year it does depend on who else the team adds. As we sit right now, he's a rotation player by default. He's currently the only "true" SG on the roster, though I think Butler is fine at SG as long as McDermott is playing SF. I think his 3pt shooting will be fine as long as Rose is back and Butler is the 4th-ish option on offense only taking wide-open 3's as needed.
Twice now, the Bulls have taken 6'7" pure SFs and played them at SG with .... Unsatisfactory?... Results. If Snell is a key rotation player and doesn't step up his game significantly, we are in for some tough games. Even more so if Jimmy is the same kind of player as last year. We played a lot less than 5 on 5 when on offense. Play well off Kirk, Jimmy, Snell, and Jo. Our team FG% was in the toilet because we couldn't keep defenses honest. Think about all those uncontested long range shots Noah got last year. His man clogged the lane making it tough for the other 4 to get good/close shots. We also got near zero fast break thus easy baskets.
No doubt, Snell has to play A LOT better if he ever wants to see the court. Having a healthy Rose will make all the difference in the world, well that and having actual shooters like McDermott and Mirotic available.
