THAT IS A DIFFERENT POINT. YOU SAID WE HAVE NO MONEY TO OFFER. I AGREE FREE AGENTS DON'T WANT TO COME TO PORTLAND . . . EXCEPT IF YOU PAY KAMAN TWICE AS MUCH AS HE GOT PAID BEFORE. WHY ARE WE YELLING.
Okay Rolo and nic can give you a near max player... Let's say Melo for example. Okay melo is a SF so batums position is covered. We are now without a center and have Only what we had last summer. Cuz remember trading them out would put us under cap, therefor no MLE. So who we getting next for 2.5 mil and vet min?
Shoulda just gave that money to tbe current players as a bonus. Wait, are you saying that using these exceptions is better than not using them because we get players who can actually play and or could be used as assets down the road? That sounds fishy to me, I still think we should have gotten Gortat for the MLE. OR LeBron because he must have told Damian he wanted to play with him.
That reason being not understanding that there's a salary cap and also that you can't make up trades that you'd like? Pretty sure they were "on the radar" of people who knew that the Blazers were working with an MLE and BAE.
Well he is going to get 6.3 million from the Blazer for one yr. He went from 14 million to 8 million to 3.2 million . . . to 6.3 million.
Where do you get that figure? http://www.spotrac.com/nba/portland-trail-blazers/chris-kaman/ 4.8 million in 2014-15. 5 million in 2015-16.
It doesn't matter what you evaluate their worth to be; the Blazers didn't have the cap space to go after them. I know you believe you can magic up cap space at whim, but that's not how it works. You have to line things up and make sacrifices to create cap windows. The Blazers could do that next off-season. There was no way to do it this off-season in any halfway realistic universe.
IF they are going to seriously target Kaman, I have no problem giving him the full MLE (especially for that contract) . . . but we are drastically increasing his salary after a not so great year.
Well, I don't know about you, but if you gave me 1.6 million that would drastically increase my salary.
If Kaman can stay healthy, and that's a big if, I think they will keep him. Only way they buy him out is if he's playing a 50 game season. I actually think Kaman will surprise you bro. Don't be discouraged. Trust Olshey... Many didn't trust the Rolo move last summer and that became a home run.
