http://www.nysun.com/article/43549?page_no=1I actually disagree. There are alot of players that have star potential. Bargnani, Ty Thomas, Aldridge, Roy, Randy Foye, Adam Morrison, Rudy Gay, Marcus Williams, and others..The problem is that alot of theme ither arent getting time, or they arent NBA ready. Out of those guys, only Williams, Foye, Roy, and Morrison are ready for the NBA. Only guy from that group that's playing well is Foye. I think these guys will be the top candidates for ROY, and they will pick it up soon enough. Hollinger cant expect them to be great after only 2 weeks playing in the NBA.
The 1990 draft class was much more worse. They only had one legit NBA star and that was Gary Payton.Notable players (I guess you can call them notable )Mahmoud Abdul-RaufGary PaytonDerrick ColemanDennis ScottKendall GillTyrone HillJayson WilliamsCedric CeballosThe other 7 lottery picks picked along with those 8 mentioned above.Felton Spencer- 5 ppg 5 rpgLionel Simmons-13 ppg 6 rpg but only lasted 7 seasons.Bo Kimble- 5.5 ppg.Willie Burton-10 ppg.Rumeal Robinson-7.6 ppg only lasted 6 seasons.Alec Kessler-5 ppg lasted 3 seasons.Loy Vaught-10 ppg 7 rpg.Travis Mays-11 ppg lasted 3 nba seasons.
This guy is a moron. Judging a whole entire draft class after 8 games is just irresponsible and a waste of everyones time. I could see judging the rookies at midseason or so...but comes on.

I don't understand how he can make this judgement, already. In 2-3 years, ask this question again. As of right now, it's not that bad at all IMO, and deep with solid players. No, it may not have a franchise player in it like a LeBron, Wade, Melo, etc. But it has a lot of quality players, even in the 2nd round.A lot of these guys you really have to wait on to make a fair judgement. Outside of a small amount of players in this draft, most players are either projects or guys that need a couple years of NBA tuning. So, ask this question in about 3 years.

Shelden Williams is off to a decent start relatively to other rookies.

Yeah that's Gerald Green for you baby! Get used to it lol. But yeah that dunk was voted the #1 dunk of the year by NBA TV. G-Money can sky, and I guarentee you that if he gets invited to participate in the 2007 dunk contes (I don't see how they don't invite him) that he will win.

This draft class could turn out to be much like that of 90', but who the heck knows?
In this draft, their wasnt one player that really stood out to me, but there was actually a decent amount of depth. When big college names like Allen Ray, Kevin Pittsnogle, Mike Gansey, Darius Washington, and several others arent drafted, than it honestly cant be THAT bad. Maybe some of the guys that I listed arent NBA type players but they were still good in college. The 90 draft that was listed is much worse and so is the draft with Kenyon Martin. 5 years from now, I dont think that guy would be saying what he is saying now.

I'll bet you never hear of those Israeli or African players picked in the second round.

Just because foreign players are being picked instead doesn't mean the draft doesn't have depth. The fact of the matter is that good college players arent being drafted....And by you saying "cheaper" international players, I honestly dont think thats what the GM's are thinking about. They are still going to get paid the same as a rookie drafted, and all of the GM's picks are based off of potential or help that they can get now. With foreigners, their is a great upside and you can get lucky at times....

They are cheaper because they can be stored oversea's for a couple of years and teams can just hold their rights..etc...GM's no doubt want talent but it's evident that they are really reaching on a lot of these guys and obviously don't want to have an American second rounder on the roster or in the states....Like the Clippers picked Guillermo Diaz...he was not going to make the team so he signed in Europe and he's not on the teams payroll this season. I don't really think it affects the depth too much, all these great college guys aren't even making NBA rosters anyway.
this draft actually does have some game changers. Brandon Roy helped turn portland around, adam morrison will be a number one scoring option in the future, Marcus Williams will be an all-star pg, and Rondo is a game changer.

So actually, foreigners are not necessarily cheaper by any means. I will agree with you in the sense that the majority of the American players selected in the 2nd round dont result to anything, but that is how it is with almost any player selected. With 2nd rounds, you will occassionally get your Michael Redd's and Gilbert Arenas', and you will sometimes get your Manu's out of another country. The fact of the matter is, the draft this year was deap, just there wasnt a definite first couple picks like the years previous. It was a weak draft class in the sense that there arent alot of stars, but it had depth none the less.

Well let's look at how a few guys from this horrible draft class did last night. Adam Morrison 27pts/4rebs Hilton Armstrong 17pts/9rebs Renaldo Balkman 18pts/7rebs/2blks Rajon Rondo 5pts/7asts/5rebs/3stls Sergio Rodriquez 2pts/8asts/2stls LaMarcus Aldridge 13pts/8rebs/3stls
