First off we need someone to replace pouliot, Now I had a feeling that maybe we could grab heatley on the cheap but honestly if he's taking a million dollar contract from the ducks I believe then his heart wasn't in playing on the east coast again. So back to the question...needs... #1 center, a REAL center. Nash needs one, chris does and everyone else does. We need a legit number one center and sather needs to do his trading magic to get one. thorton seems like a possibility, not a huge fan of how old he is but the guy is a dynamite #1 passer. I would even try and swing a deal for thorton and marlaeu to be honest. Another need, second line winger for brassard and zucs. not much more to be said here. Thirdly, whats our d looking like? I would package staal and a prospect for him. guy is DYNAMITE, and boyle is a solid player but he will only be here for two seasons. imagine a 1st PP unit of yandle boyle thorton nash adn krieder? wow. i feel like staal and allen for yandle will get it done bc i have a feeling ekmanlarson wont be staying with the yotes once his contracts up and conner allen if he does his thing can replace him also the yotes have other people that can help us...if not yandle, ekman larsson? and sather should have pushed HARD for vrbata before he signed that bogus deal with the canucks. he will be a ranger by years end. you heard it here first. we need a right handed shot and once again we will be missing it all season long til the deadline when the canucks are in the cellar at the end of the day, depth down the middle. and if i had to guess i think the organization is really banking on our youth and i dont blame them. Yeah,, the Yotes are going to give up one of the best defenseman in the game in OEL. That's like the Rangers giving up McDonagh. The concept of the Rangers having no cap space,is lost on you.
Always wanted Yandle, but now that they got Boyle there's no need for basically a duplicate. They should go after him in 2 years when he's a UFA. And it would take alot more than a UFA Staal and Allen to get him.
I would love to see Glen start locking up guys like CK, Zuccarello and Brassard so we can get an idea of how much money is truly available. The Rangers currently have the fewest players signed to their pro roster with 17 and that's including Fast, Mueller, Kostka and Hunwick. Someone should hold a mirror under Glen's nose to see if he's breathing!
All the arbitration dates are next week so we should know then, but it looks like theyll only be about 2m after that. All of those other guys will probably be in the minors id think except Kostka or Hunwick as a spare dman. I think they should add a guy like Stempniak to fill out the last spot.
