He is on the minimum salary. They need to waive him to compete other deals. But could then go over cap to sign him to another minimum deal
Pretty sure he was waived last season, cleared waivers, got a MIN deal from...WAS (?)...then somehow (waived or traded) made his way to the Lakers.
Anyone can sign minimum salary players to fill a roster regardless of cap space. They don't possess rights to him, just an nba rule so teams can fill rosters
So they must be wanting to go over the cap to sign someone else. Not that they really are going to sign him later to push them over the cap. They will already be at it or over. Either way, stupid idea on the part of the Lakers but I love them being stupid.
I think they just need to clear his space to finalize all of their other deals, like lin, boozer, and young. Primarily young, to give him the reported deal, needed to waive Marshall
I not sure we can even make a claim on this guy. But if we can then I don't think we would be the top bid (according to record not money). Would like to have him though.
We can make a claim, but we might not win out. We would lose to teams who actually have cap space, or to teams that had a worse record.
Totally. And yet watch him go unclaimed. I don't get it some times. Why not gamble on youth and talent for cheap?
He went unclaimed at least once - if not twice - last season. I don't think it happens again, but I really hope we place a bid.
