I'm sure those of you watching the Rockets-Bulls game know the little clip I'm talking about where Tracy basically said he will retire once his current contract expires. Do you think he is serious, and do you think it is a good decision by him if he indeed does it?

Yeah, wow I just posted about this in another thread. That would be sad if a player as great as him decides to retire at 30. I definitely believe him, but his opinion could easily change within the next 3 years obviously.

Yeah I saw that and I was shocked. Who knows how his mind will change (or not change) in 3 years time, but as of right now - wow. But he says the game is really taking a tole on his body and that he's diminishing as a player. He also said that he really wants to spend time with his family, which I think is awesome. But then he mentioned something about possibly playing baseball down the line, and that he's been training with Roger Clemens. Hmmm.

Wow, I did not see that coming. In a way, it is good for him because he would be able to leave the game when at the top of his game. But I don't know, I would like to see him play longer.

Back issues could be a determining factor in early retirement. To have them so early definately hurt him having longetivity in the NBA.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Rockets forward Tracy McGrady claims that he has a devastating knuckle ball that he might eventually unleash on big league hitters. He's just not planning on doing it anytime in the near future. The Rockets' six-time All-Star said after Thursday night's win over the Chicago Bulls that he doesn't plan on pursuing a baseball career until he's satisfied that his basketball playing days are over."I'm going to play baseball at the end of my (basketball) career," McGrady said. "I guess (TNT) took that to mean the end of my contract. But who knows what I'm going to do in four years?"</div>

I guess Tmac wants to play baseball, I think when he does play basbeball I'm not sure if he'll make the major leagues, I think Tmac should do what he's doing now and play basketball.

What does T-Mac mean that the TNT guys took it to mean at the end of his contract? John Thompson asked him "So, does that mean you'll retire once your current contract expires?" and McGrady said "yes."

Ive heard him say that he wants to pursue a career in baseball once he's done with basketball. I guess he is other ineterests in mind right now, other then the sport he plays, kind of like Tiki Barber. Of course, both of those guys could pull an MJ and retire 2 or 3 times...When does his contract end anyway? Im too lazy to go to hoopshype, and look it up right now, + my internet is for some reason taking like 30 seconds to load the page when you go to a new site.

Tracy McGrady's heart just isn't in basketball. I kind of feel bad for Yao Ming, a guy who's obviously working his ass off and his runningmate seems more interested in complaining about his body and baseball.I'm not saying he isn't trying hard but it's a difficult situation. You really have to think, is this a guy we want to have around if he's going to talk like this? I would just like to mention that this is not like the Michael Jordan situation. Michael Jordan tried baseball for the challenge, it was all about if he could do it...etc...Anyone with half a brain knows McGrady doesn't have a future in major league baseball. This is a wierd situation. I feel bad for Rockets fans that you have your franchise player saying this. I look at what Larry Bird did in his career, he had some of the worst back problems and pain you can fricken imagine and he gave it 100% ever night, becuase he loved the game in a bad way and would do anything to help his team win...McGrady it seems doesn't have that...I'm not bashing him because they are different people...McGrady has a right to his life and can do what he wants...I'm not going to call him a piece of sh*t and a bad guy for doing this because at least he's being honest and up front about it. This is just too bad.

BCB- He is still giving it what he's got. He's looking more and more agressive as this young season has progressed, and without him the Rockets would be absolute crap again. No playmaking, Yao would get doubled and tripled, and with this offense it would be ugly. I mean yeah, he is being pessimistic right now, but he is getting off to a very bad start after a very bad season. He hasn't played at the level he is used to for a year and a half now. So of course he will get down on himself, and will be very passive as he has Yao out there. But he is getting more agressive, looks to be having more fun out there, and is getting his stroke back. I wouldn't look too much into this, although he said this back in March (saw it on nba.com, so this was no surprise).

I do think that he needs to stop shooting so many jumpshots, and take it to the hole more, like he is so capable of doing......He needs to get more easy buckets......

If he is going to retire from basketball in 3 seasons to play baseball, than I honestly think that is retarted. If it is to spend more time with his family, I really cant blame the guy. I can only imagine how much time you spend away from your family during the season. Also, he has had alot of injuries in his career. Maybe he thinks he really cant take anymore...

I agree, If he's going to retire in 3 years just to play baseball then I think that's just pretty stupid. He should just continue his Basketball career until he knows he's old enough to stop playing. But, I wouldn't mind if he retired because of his family. But anything can change in 3 years so I really have no clue what to say.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Rockets guard Tracy McGrady laughed off a report Thursday on TNT that he said he planned to retire at the end of his contract to play baseball. "I said I'm playing baseball at the end of my career," McGrady, 27, said. "I guess he took that as at the end of this contract, that was going to be it. Who knows?"What is it, four or five years from now? Who knows? I'm not disputing that I said who knows. But I didn't say I'm done after this contract. I don't know how I'm going to feel four years from now."McGrady said he was not sure how much time was left on his contract. He is signed through the 2009-10 season.Asked if he would take the call if the Astros called, he laughed and said he would pick up the phone.</div>http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl//4344474.html
