What are some of the better protest songs that have been made. I know there are some on both sides that are great and that are not so great. American Idiot by Green Day is just one of the worst in my opinion. Here is one of the greatest ones I've EVER heard. "Rockin' In The Free World"-Neil Young. It's about the changes in America during the 1st Bush's Adminastration. Now I dont entirely agree with the song, but that doesn't mean Young doesn't get his point across. Some of the lyrics are direct quotes from Bush Sr. "We got a thousand points of light" and "We got a kinder, gentler, Machine gun hand" are some quotes from Bush while "keep hope alive" was and is a slogan used by Jesse Jackson. The whole "Rockin In the Free World" part is that that is what most people in America do. They dont worry about other smaller countries and what problems they have with poverty, drugs, and curruot governments. They just "keep rockin in the free world." They stay oblivious to the fact that people out there are dieing from things they take for granted.Here is my favourite lyric from the whole song. It actaully makes me want to tear up when I here it.
