    ...just spitballing;

    1. Utley and Rios to the Yanx.

    2. Kurt Suzuki to the O's

    3. Lester or Price to the Mariners or Dodgers.

    You and I really want Utley but don't see it happening. I say Rios or Byrd to the Yankees and Danks to the Yankees even though I am not crazy on that.

    Lester to the Cardinals
    Lackey to the Dodgers

    ...according to what I've read, the Phils are OK financially and need player more than they need money...I think the only way the Yanx get Utley is if the Phils eat a good portion of his contract and for doing that, the Yanx would have to give a youthful package. Still would love to see Tulo in pinstripes but, well, yeah, I know.
    ...Byrd says he'd OK a deal to the Yanx but contract-wise, I think Rios is a better fit because 2015 is a team option. Byrd has more power but will still be under contract through all of next year with a vesting option for 2016 when he will then be 39 by the time the season is over.

    Byrd only makes $8M while Rios is due $13.5 For that reason I think the'll sign Byrd. Also because we need immediate offense & he's only hit 1 home run since May 16 & only has 4 on the season. On the pitching front I'd love lester but unfortunately I think we may end up with Danks.

    ...no, Rios is not due $13.5...he's only due about $5 Mil for the rest of this season plus a $1 Mil TEAM option buyout for 2015...Byrd is due about $11 Mil for the rest of this year and next year, plus a vesting option for another $8 Mil for 2016.

    ...Minimum commitment;

    Rios- $6 Mil

    Byrd- $11 Mil

    Maximum commitment;

    Rios - $6 Mil

    Byrd - $19 Mil

    My mistake I didn't realize that the $13.5M I was looking at for Rios next season was a club option with a $1M buyout.

    Byrd on the other hand according to COTS is only earning $8M this season so I don't know how he can still be due $11M for the remainder of this year. I would say he's only due approx 2-3M for the remainder of the year & is due $8M next season. 2016 is for a club option for an additional $8M

    Check out the link & scroll down to Byrd. Like I said Ron, unless I'm reading it wrong he's only making $8M for this season.

    lol...rick, that's what I said; "Byrd is due about $11 Mil for the rest of this year and next year". ($3 Mil + $8 Mil)

    ...edit; and 2016 is not a "club option"...it's a "vesting option"...big difference.

    Holy elephant nuts batman, i'm losing it, how the hell did I miss "And next year"?

    Anyway Rios seems to be going through a MAJOR power outage. So I still think the'll more likely go after Byrd. We'll see over the next 48 hours.

    ...Rios is a good contact hitter, and I gotta believe part of the reason he's not hitting as many HRs is because he is now hitting in a weak line up as oppose to years past.
    ...regardless, the BA is still good, which is all I really care about, plus like I said, he's still solid defensively and can still steal bases.

    I'd enjoy seeing the players you (59) mentioned in Pinstripes....

    Lester, I foresee going also to the Cards....

    don't foresee the Bums picking Lackey up neither....they (Bums) do have a couple of young gun arms, we just may be lucky enough to see, or not...
