Aggrey Sam @CSNBullsInsider Don't know how much of the scrimmages people can see at home (2 courts going simultaneously, Select Team mixed in) but Derrick looks... Aggrey Sam @CSNBullsInsider ...dynamic, explosive before being subbed out just now. Media was only let in a while ago, but an impartial observer told me he's playing... Aggrey Sam @CSNBullsInsider ..."much better" than yesterday. Think the hype from Day 1 was more off seeing him healthy, back on the court in general.
Interviewing S Curry. Can play both SG and PG. Talked about S Kerr. Talked a lot this summer. Player movement, ball movement, and maybe some triangle. Thompson, Greene, and Curry in training camp.
K.C. Johnson @KCJHoop Coach K on DRose: "He was phenomenal yesterday and he was today too. He hasn’t held anything back."
You guys see the Blue-White game last night? -- I feel like Rose is still getting graded on the Lake Wobegon scale. People are going nuts because he's playing pretty well for being out of the game for two plus years -- but that's not remotely the same thing as actually playing well. His handle looks really rough to me, which makes it really difficult to evaluate where his speed is at. And he doesn't have the same hops. Both of those will probably improve when he gets into game shop. But until he makes it all the way back, he hasn't made it all the way back. On the other hand, his stroke at the free throw line looks better. I wouldn't be shocked if he comes out of his time off with slightly improved shooting. He was just such a dynamic athlete. I hope he can get that back. -- Thibodeau is a piece of work. There's something decidedly wrong with that dude. By the second quarter, in an intramural game leading up to an event that doesn't matter, he was down in his stance barking orders at the his team. They went up 20 of course. Kevin Durant and Boogie Cousins seemed particularly receptive. Thibodeau could make those guys into a hall of fame center and the best player of the generation, respectively (right before they broke down due to injuries in the playoffs). It's too bad that those guys don't have decent coaches. -- Paul George's injury makes me sad.
I watched the game. He looked good early. Took it to the basket with ease, straight forward. Loved his steal in the back court when the white team tried to throw long on the break. I was ecstatic to see him play again. That being said, there was rust. He got winded. He could take most of the season to be his 'old self' but an 80% Rose is better than John Wall! Team USA cut him today and Beal as well.
Interesting. I thought they would keep Beal over Thompson. I understand cutting Wall though. He's a decent game-orchestrating point guard, and I think, sometimes you just want a confidence guy to come in and take chances . . . especially in international play. Lillard is better at filling that role. You're not going to cut Kyrie if Blatt is your coach.
I did too. I thought Beal would make the team for sure. Team USA cut Paul Millsap as well. They must really like Plumlee.
Yeah, that's a head scratcher too. I guess I don't really understand what they're looking for. It seems like they don't really have a stretch four like Plumlee on the roster. could be that they want more size if they get caught up in foul trouble or if Cousins goes MIA. I actually love the front court this season. Cousins-Davis are a pair of badasses who are hungry and just coming into their own. I know that they only made the team after a bunch of players pulled out, but this might be the best front court Team USA has had in a while.
Yeah, the article doesn't quite make sense. I think he forgot to include Plumlee on the roster. I also wonder what Dan Feldman's (do you guys know the author?) support is for thinking Boogie Cousins won't make the team? He was dominating in the Blue-White game. I don't think you leave the gap at power forward unless you expect to move Anthony Davis over. (And this is neither here nor there, but that's a terrifying front court: huge, mobile, great passers, decent handlers and both have some range.)
