John Schumann is an idiot. Colangelo said he's keeping 15 players until the last scrimmage august 30th. Dame is definitely one of those 15.
Coach K is pissed that Stotts didn't let Nolan be Nolan, and he'll take it out on Lillard by cutting him.
[tweet]496437458549342209[/tweet] So how many does that leave? There's still cutting to be done, right?
There were 19 in camp, so now it's down to 15, right, if you include the Paul George injury? Kind of a joke that Plumlee and Faried are still on the roster, while Millsap gets cut, IMO. L With Beal and Wall gone, it looks like Lillard made the team, though, since he can play SG along with PG.
I'm surprised Wall and Beal were cut right now. Perhaps the Wizards requested it via back-channels? As it is, here are the guards left. PG Irving Curry Rose Lillard SG Thompson Harden DeRozen Thompson and Korver (SF) are basically redundant, and Lillard's skill set to play small on and off the ball with another PG makes me really like his chances now.
Korver/Thompson and Hayward/Parsons are redundant. I supposed one could say Curry/Lillard are redundant, but they have a broader skill set, and can be on the court at the same time together. I really thought Wall was going to make the team over Lillard. Now, I think Dame is a near lock, and yet again, the "experts" are doubting him. Didn't Schuhmann also say that Lillard would be cut on the first cut?
Anthony Davis article, with thoughts from Lillard on Davis included. http://www.nba.com/pelicans/news/anthony-davis-experiences-eventful-week-usa-basketball
I would cut Korver, Hayward, and Plumlee. They have no business being out there. None at all. Total joke. Rose is making a mistake. He shouldn't be playing right now, and quite frankly I don't think he's earned the spot. I would keep Dame, Irving, and Curry. PG - Dame/Irving/Curry/Rose SG - Harden/Thompson SF - Durant/Parsons PF - Davis/Faried C - Cousins/Drummond
I bet that if Paul George weren't injured, you'd probably be calling for Parsons to be cut too. Hmm, what's the common thread here...?
I was thinking the same thing. I definitely think the coaches might have a bias, or desire to include white players.
What? Why? The only white American dude last year on the Blazers is bashed non-stop by his own fans, and the two white dudes signed as FAs are being bashed, too. Plumlee has no business on the USA team. Hayward and Parsons are very similar players, although I think Hayward is the much better player. Korver is a 33 year-old shooter; he's Tim Legler at this point. A specialist. If USA keeps Korver but never plays him, that's a bad pick. I'd say the same thing if Dennis Scott was in his prime trying to make this team, too.
I think Plumlee and Korver have no business at all being on the team. Hayward isn't a bad player, but I would take Parsons or DeRozan over Hayward. I wasn't impressed with him last season. Plumlee is a joke. Rolo > Plumlee.
Surprised Beal and Millsap got the axe so quickly-- they both are versatile enough to actually contribute in many different ways. Not surprised at all about Wall after he looked so awful in the scrimmage. So it comes down to Dame v Kyrie. If Dame is on the team still for the Brazil game, I'm gonna make a drive up to CHI on the 16th.
Dame just sneaks up on people and surprises them. Makes me wonder if even the USA coaches are a little surprised at this point that he is still there.
I would have to agree with this unless Hayward is tearing it up in practice. If he is playing really well then his "position" may be a bigger need than an extra PG/SG. I agree it may come down to Lillard or Kyrie. And I also agree that Rose is making a mistake. Participating in the practices was OK to get the rust off, but to play in all the games after missing most of the last two seasons is risky. If I am Thibodeau, I would lobby to cut him for health reasons.
