The way I see it we're locked into 11 players for next season totaling approx $170M

    Alex Rodriquez............$21M
    C.C. Sabathia..............$23M
    Masahiro Tanaka..........$22M
    Jacoby Ellsbury............$21M
    Mark Teixeira...............$22.5M
    Brian McCann..............$17M
    Carlos Beltran.............$15M
    Brett Gardner.............$12M
    Martin Prado...............$11M
    Matt Thorton..............$3.5M
    Brendan Ryan.............$2M
    ------------------------------------
    TOTAL = $ 170M

    Decisions, decisions on................

    Stephen Drew.....................$ = ?????
    Chase Headley.....................Made $10.5M in 2014
    Brandon McCarthy...............Made $9M in 2014
    David Robertson.................Made $5.2M in 2014
    Ivan Nova...........................Made $3.3M in 2014
    Chris Capuano....................Made $2.2M in 2014
    Shawn Kelley......................Made $1.7M in 2014

And then there's the following group........

Francisco Cervelli, David Phelps, Michael Pineda, Adam Warren & Dellin Betances.

Gone in 2015 will be Derek Jeter ($12M), Hiroki Kuroda ($16M), & Ichiro Suzuki ($6.5M)

The team we field next season needs to be a whole lot better then what we've had over the past 2 seasons. And the Stiener boys can forget about keeping the payroll under $200M. Especially when you see that $170M is already committed to only 11 players.

Sign Betances at all costs, Cervelli should be signed too... Pineda if he can actually pitch in the bits, otherwise let this Pavano-wannabe go... I'd sign Nova & Robertson... Not sure about Phelps...

I think you've also got to sign Headley but not at 10M & I'd even consider bringing back McCarthy & Drew. I don't want to go into 2015 with Ryan as our ONLY option for SS.

I like Headley a lot so far and I would let the year play out before saying yes to McCarthy. Wish they could somehow get rid of Thornton and Ryan. Betances is a no brainer. Cervelli probably gone and use John Murphy unless they trade him and then sign Cervy. Phelps I would sign, Warren yes if no too expensive same goes for Robertson. Pineda only if he can come back and be effective. Nova I think you have to sign. Capuano hell no. Kelly only if cheap. Drew another play out rest of year and see how he does. Remember he and Headley haven't played at Yankee vanadium yet.

All that said. HUGE payroll next year. No talk of under 189 next season.

I have that feeling also, if he is on the field next season he'll either be at short or as the DH. And of course much of that depends on whether Beltran is healthy enough to play RF full time.

If A rod is on this team next season he will be a DH and nothing more.

59, I was surprised Cervelli wasn't traded before the deadline. They will need pitching next season so maybe they c old package Murphy in a deal for a starter and resign Cervelli?

...he can't play SS anymore...hell, he no longer has the range to play 3B , much less SS.

...yeah, I've always liked his fire...but the PEDs thing still bothers me. His value is probably as high or higher than it's ever been...and there are a few teams out there who are in need of a solid all around catcher.

Its only funny if you say peanuts, "What am I gonna do with PEANUTS"? POW!!! right in the kisser.

And what to do with Drew if he finishes up strong. I mean if it comes down to either him or Ryan for short next season I think you've got to go with Drew.

Depending on how Drew finishes up the year, I'd be okay in bringing back Drew,& Headley . I also think Robertson is a must sign. JMO.

McCarthy is another one that deserves a return ticket.

The 2015 Yankee payroll will exceed $220M. as you clearly see above there's already $170M committed to only 11 players.

So 14 players to fill out the rest of the roster. Do the math. You have to assume that they try to resign.....

Robertson = at least $10M per
Headley = at least $8M per
Pineda = at least $5M per
Nova = at least $4M per
Warren = at least 2M per
Drew = at least $6M per
McCarthy = at least $5M per

And I think I'm aiming low here. but that's another $40M so we're at $210M for 18 players. Hell $220M may be on the low side.
