<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (koopa @ Feb 1 2007, 12:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>just thought I'd bring this thread back from the grave just because durant is f*cking awesome.....tonight at texas tech......37 points and 23 rebounds......</div>I was at this game. OMG, he beat Tech by himself. He was just so much bigger and faster than any player Tech could put on him. In that 2nd half, if he wanted the rebound, he got the rebound, it was his for the taking. He really took the wind out of the Tech fans sails so to speak. Now I hear everyone comparing him to everyone from KG to T-Mac to Dirk. I really dont like any of those comparisions. Now hear my comparison out. He's a more athletic Larry Bird. He has that mid range jumper down pat. He can shoot over smaller defenders on that mid range jumper of his just like Bird did. He's about the same hieght as Bird as well and will play the SF position in the league I believe. His 3 point shot is just damn near unstopable. I compare his shot to that of a Dirk Nowitzki or a Kobe Bryant. By that, I mean his form is just damn near perfect and when he shoots the ball, it looks like its going in no matter where he shoots. Thats the way Dirk and Kobe shoot. Everytime they shoot it feels and looks like its going to go in. I think my Bird comparison is really legit. His passing isnt as good as Bird's yet, but he has the skills and tools to become a good passer. Same thing with defense. I noticed that he didnt stay in position when he was guarding someone. He fell for a lot of shot fakes as well. They got him up in the air a lot. This guy is just great in my opinion.
on pti today, wilbon brought up larry bird when talking about durant, so I guess your comparison isn't to far off base........through 21 games durant is avg. 25 points 1.6 assist 11.6 rebounds... fg % .488, 3pt fg% is .383...doesn't seem to high but damn when he's on he's on....... ft% is .83.....that's a good thing, he's clutch on the free throw line....gotta love that with a 18 year oldit's scary to think that his body isn't really even finish growing, and he's still gonna improve on his game........ to bad stern only got half of what he wanted when he said they have to go to college...... another year him and augustine would lead ut to at least the final four........ also, durant has a good head on his shoulders, he's so humble, and seems smart, I think he's said he's happy he had to go to college cause he said he wouldn't have known what to do with all that free time and he'd probably be spending all his money on stupid stuff......so this experience is gonna make him a better player on and off the court...........I can't wait till he plays against the aggies...... I wanna see him light them up lol
He raped them so badly..I loved watching him play last night..man I cant wait for him to get to the NBA!!
Wow this freshman is a complete stud I mean he can do it all. I live in Texas and he plays for my favorite college but I think it's pretty hard to disagree that he is the best player in college basketball this year. Alando Tucker just scores and Greg Oden is just a bit too inconsistent right now. Man but last night against Texas Tech was his best college game he has had all year and it was just an amazing performance to watch. 37 points and 23 rebounds and he also led his team to victory. That stat line will raise his averages quite a bit. Durant though is really moving up on teams draft picks because of his stellar play he has shown throughout the season and especially as of late. I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was the number 1 pick ahead of Oden if he opts out for the draft.

And unlike Kevin Durant, Greg Oden has very good teammates who can score...the pressure is never on Oden to put up 20ppg like it's on Durant. You take Lewis and Cook out of OSU and Oden would be scoring more...Oden's pretty consistant, consistantly plays lock down defense...he just doesn't know when he's going to get shots. I've watched plenty of OSU games were they go down the floor 5 times and Oden never touches the ball and Oden is always fighting for good postion, it's his greatest strength right now as a player.
Ya he is very good on the defensive ends but on the offensive end he seems a little tentative sometime to take shots and also I agree that he doesn't touch the ball enough. Some games he will have like 6 or 7 then other he will have 15 or 16. If he would just stay in college one more year I think he would be a lot better going into the draft.

He needed help on the offensive end when he got to college, and now he can shoot the three ball with confidence. He's a lockdown defender, and should be a very solid pro player. I still think he could use some work with his shot, become a bit more consistant but he's still improved tons over the last couple years.

When Oden gets fully healthy by march madness time probably before that he will start dominating.

But when he gets his hands back he should dominate.

Durant is playing right now on ABC for some people..but I got stuck with the UNC/NC State game..but it isnt like that's that bad eitherBrandan WrightI wish I could watch Durant thoughAMAZING player
I got stuck with the UNC game also. And I love Ellington, Lawson, Wright, and Hansbrough but I love watching Durant and Texas play..
Yeah I got stuck with the UNC/NC State game aswell. I'm pissed, since I haven't been able to watch many Durant games this season as it is. Oh well, I'll just watch the OSU game in a few minutes instead.
he ended up with 32 points and 9 reboundsomg, rick barnes needs to be fired after the way that sh*t ended....... first they don't foul right away they just stand there like idiots, and then his players seemed so damn lost at the end of the game and instead of going for the 3 when down by the 3 they go for 2 right at the buzzard.....wtf was that........ barnes isn't doing his job and getting his players ready for situations like this..... oh well durant is still a beast..... those 3 blocks in a row were beautiful lol
he also had 5 blocks...who said Durant's D wasn't up to Oden's level?shot 62% from the field...80% from the FT line and 50% from threeand he only had 1 turnover the whole gamehahathe guy does EVERYTHINGid love to see Kevin between the end of the basketball season and the NBA draft hit the weight room though..I dont even mean his arms just his body..hes a skinny kid haha..but maybe that's what makes him good?maybe he doesn't need to get bulkier because he's a natural NBA SF?
