I hadn't heard that he actually got "promoted", they said during the game Friday that they used him in the Friday scrimmage so they would have 10 players on each team. Not saying you're wrong, just what I heard during the telecast- it seems as if he would have been promoted, they wouldn't have made that statement.
I'm pretty sure they plan to play Durant at PF for international ball, and Davis would really be a C in FIBA games, I think. In the 2012 Olympics, Tyson was the only center on the roster, and while he started he only played 11.3 minutes. Davis played 7 games 7.3 minutes each game, and Love played 17.0 minutes. That leaves 5 minutes a night that LeBron or Melo or Durant were playing center. http://archive.usab.com/misc/12_moly_stats_usa.pdf The only team with real size is Spain with the Gasol brothers and Ibaka, and we all know Pau is too old to be a difference maker........................
http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nba/2132/player Under his latest news it has it that he was promoted due to a lack of big men on july 29th
If he gets cut it has 100% to do with his attitude. Jerry Colangelo was rumored to be very upset with Cousins last year and has had issues with Cousins maturity. Bill Simmons talked with Zach Lowe on his podcast last week and that was an issue they brought up.
I tell yah I'd go big: Boogie, Davis, Durant, Thompson, Curry. Let the other teams run small forward type fours and see how far they get against Davis. That team has more than enough shooting to fair okay on offense.
