Gardners season has been a VERY pleasant surprise.

Jeter IMO pretty exceeded what I expected. I really didn't think the ankle would hold up.

Ellsbury has been fairly consistent all year but I expected a better average.

Beltran (though he had a better 2nd half) got off to a bad start really never recovered to what we expected.

Teixeira had ANOTHER disappointing season & is basically made of glass.

McCann, I understand new team, new league & new pitchers but all in all a MAJOR bust.

    ..... much the same...

didn't expect much out of Gardner, not a bad year for anyone, yet, not worth the 15 million IMO....just saying...IMO...(I'm a Scrooge with $$$)....

Jeter, just glad to see him one more time....hasn't let me down, isn't what he once was, but what can one expect out of a 40 year old SS.

Tex-flat out makes me wonder. Needs to see a (Steve Sax-like) Sport Shrink.....only has one thing on his mind, swing for the fences, gone are the days of contact line drives.

McCann, still believe in him, thinking he will make a diff..... I'll give him a pass this year only.

Beltran, never expected anything less than the little he's gave us, sorry, I think, always have thought, Carlos is NOT The player many think, never was. Not MR. Clutch, sure he's had some fine moments in his career, but IMO one of the most over-rated flops in the game.....over-rated all his career....IMO....or do I harbor resentment for Carlos not being the Icon many said he would be....?

Expected a bit more out of Ellsbury, will expect more next year....too....! Yet, I like this kid, in Pinstripes...

Our SP staff, who ever saw this coming.......?

    Betances, a welcome surprise.....!

Robertson, re-sign him, have him pitch the 7th-8th, make Betances the Closer...!

    Our bat boys....LOL....hire Jessica Alba....!!!:ghoti:

...Ellsbury will not finish the year batting .275.

...he was batting .291 11 days ago and his numbers are a bit skewed by the fact that he's in the middle of a 5 for 40 streak. But it's not like he's getting dominated because in those ABs he's only struck out 4 times.

With Ellsbury you also figure in the hustle on the bases and defense. With the recent additions like Headly and Prado the whole lineup should improve.

^^^yup...and that reminds me, I was looking at some stats earlier and they showed both Ellsbury and Mike Trout with NEGATIVE defensive WARs (-0.03 and -0.02) ...how in the hell can that be?

We will see Ellsbury grow only better....it is inevitable, IMO....

The kid has proven he can hit, steal bases, make gazelle catches in CF, hit with power, its only a matter of time, fore Jacoby become a Bronx Monster, ..... we've yet to see the true Ellsbury blossom in NY, and He will, in time, albeit this next 2 months or next year, but he will come around....inevitable.....

WAR, I've never really cared for that stat, good point out 59, to me one reason I don't pay much attention to WAR....its a over rated/used Sabr metric, IMO....

and NO please DON'T say anything more....!

...yup, the problem I have with stats is there is really so many of them that if someone sifts through some of them, they can usually cherry pick one to make a point.

***MY STATS ARE BETTER THAN YOURS !!!***

I'm also not a big fan of the WAR stat. I mean hell, up until a few years ago no one even knew what the hell it was. As far as Ellsbury, last season his #s were 9 / 53 / 298. This season he's on pace for 13 / 75 / 275 & I expect that average to be higher but years end.

Oh, and I meant to say, Yep, one can cherry pick out a stat, and make shit look like gold, or vice versa.....seen it to many times at work.....or in this game, et al.

Yeah trying to make something out of WAR is like trying to say that the HOLD is a good stat to measure a pitchers worth.

Or a stat for how many times a Pitcher, shits or pisses his pants, would be more revealing than WAR.....
