So I've talked on here about wanting to lose weight and get back in shape. I understand the basics of burn more than you are taking in. Portion control and exercise. With all my traveling it is very tough. Lame excuse, but it definitively has been a cause for being so out of shape. That said, my next door neighbors wife started using something called Advocare. Shakes, pills, etc. She has lost like 30 lbs. Curious if any of you have used this system and what your thoughts are in something like this. After Monday, I have pretty much 2 months off before the season start. I thought something like this Advocare, might be the thing I need to kick start my lazy ass to get back in shape. I will have time to hit the gym all the time during this break as well. Would love to hear your comments, suggestions and advice. Thanks FAMS! http://www.advocare.com/Mobile/
Read about it, first. Sounds like you drink the shakes and shit your brains out. Not the healthiest way to lose weight, unless you're a wrestler or something, and need to lose weight fast. And it is a MLM situation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AdvoCare
Multi level marketing. It's a sort of scam. A pyramid thing. Like tupperware parties and mary kay cosmetics.
Seriously HCP? Go to the practice facility and talk to the training staff. They will hook you up, tell you want you need to do, what to eat and will help you out when you're on the road. And don't mention the Advocare stuff to the training staff, you will only embarrass yourself.
There is no magic bullet to lose weight. You have to figure out a plan and stick to it. Maybe you should have a look at the products they're trying to sell you and see what's in them (read the label).
Don't do it. The people that sell advocare are like a cult. If you say anything bad about the products they freak out. Advocare is great to go to meetings with similar people that keep you accountable. Most of them use the zone diet too. They'll put you on the zone diet and have you work out to a video. Then make you buy the overpriced products. When you start getting results they give all the glory to the products instead of your hard work and the zone diet. Spark is great as a substitute for coffee, but other than that you can get much better products for much cheaper.
If you are looking for a shake replacement for a meal, I would recommend Shakeology. You should google it
Try some Muay Thai cardio drills with a solid wright training program. Pills don't work. You'll just yo-yo.
I would cut out dairy and non-complex carbs like bread/pasta. A meal replacement shake a day would not hurt either. If you know you are going to have trouble finding healthy options on the road or you think you might get pressed for time, take some bars in your luggage. Eating a couple of them for a meal are alot better than 1000 calories from fast food.
I don't know much about it, but every person that I ever met that did the Advocare thing had a vagina. Get a gym membership at a place that is in every city (ie 24 hour fitness, LA Fitness) and workout, eat clean, portion control. The harder you workout, the more progress you'll make. As my pops always told me, "Talk is cheap".
Literally this. I would die to have people like that to be able to talk to. I plateau at 185 consistently. F'n annoying. Probably the beer though, LOL.
Okay, I have your magic bullet right here HCP. NEVER, EVER, take the elevator again unless you physically can't IE wheelchair or crutches. I PROMISE YOU, that if you only take the stairs for a full season, (That includes taking your bags up to your room by stair) that you will lose at least 25 pounds at the end of the season. If you always take the stairs and still do not lose 25 pounds, I will give you 25$.
I have never had a problem myself so I have never tried it but I do know people that have used Weight Watchers and it has been very successful. Then to a few it has been to too successful if you catch my drift, but they are happy.
If only there was a way to drink one of them shake dumbbell weights things - and combine the nutrition and exercise...
