OMG-Rob Deer, haven't heard his name in 25+ years, over hyped swing for the fences type. Alot of strike outs, and........not a switch hitter, but yep, I can see that.... :rotfl:

I wonder if the saying: "He's got the deer in the headlights look in his eyes" came from someone watching Rob Deer trying to make contact....? :roflmao:

I'll roll back the clock for ya' Vic........enjoy....

Rob Deer, led the AL 4 times in K's, in but 11 years. Single Season highs of 32 and 31 HR's, the only 2 years he would hit 30+ HR's....

    but get this: In 93 with Detroit, 323 AB's, 120 K's, a .197 B'AVg.

Deer had in his career (another get this): had 1409 Strike Outs, vs 853 Hits....WOW....and a lifetime .220 Batting Avg.

An original Giant, hit 442 career Hrs & had his best seasons (aside from his great one with the Cubs) in his final years with the A's. Hit 35 HRs in his final season but wasn't picked up due to his anemic batting average (210). And had the distinction of being the only player to play for 4 different teams in one season (1977).

Incredible isn't it, you didn't miss much in Rob Deer, Hammer, K'd somewhere in b/t every 2 or 3 at bats.

what stuns me most, is he was allowed to play 11 seasons. someone was more than desperate to keep Deer on any payroll....not even exciting. I mean Reggie leads all players in K's, but HE was exciting to watch swing for the fences. Deer, well, he was just pitiful.......

I saw he set the record (since been tied by Dan Uggla last year) for the lowest BA amongst qualifiers for the batting title with a .179 BA in 1991... that's insane

I could be mistaken but I honestly don't remember guys even in the league with BA under 200 when I was a kid.
