Well, the game is in 10-15 minutes and dogma hasn't posted it, so I got it I guess:

He has done that the past 3 games, but tonight he is matching up with a BIG man - Eddy Curry. Let's hope and prey Perk stays out of foul trouble, I do not want Scal and Powe running the center spot the entire 2nd half.

Key Matchup
[IMG] vs. [IMG]
Sebastian Telfair vs. Stephon Marbury
Bassy vs. Steph, the battle of the cousins. You know the drill: Bassy returning home to play in front of his friends/family, while playing against his cousin. He ALWAYS has awesome games in New York, I don't see how tonight is any different. Oh, and Marbury? He's one of the most talented guards in the league.

CelticBalla's Extra Thoughts/Notes
Can we make it 3 in a row? I hope so, because if we win this game, we pass the Knicks for 3rd in the Atlantic Division. Gerald Green - we are still waiting on that slam, big fella!
Also, just a little FYI: The Celtics have 3 players from New York (Sebastian Telfair, Wally Szczerbiak, Allan Ray).

CelticBalla's Prediction
I think we are going to take this one too. We are playing well right now, and Bassy always elevates his game in New York. And to top it off, the Knicks are a joke. But both teams are coming off blowout victories (Celtics beat Portland by 28 last night, Knicks beat Miami by 24 last night), so it should be an interesting one. I say Celtics take it and move up to 3rd place in the Atlantic.

So this is what it feels like to win 3 in a row :dribble:Good to see them grind this one out after blowing that huge lead. Pierce really stepped up at the end, Gomes played a great game, and I think Doc did a pretty decent job with his subs, especially having the presence of mind to get Perk in there at the end, Perk really had a big affect on this game.

sorry I didn't write a preview, completely slipped my mind.we were on our heels at the end, but we survived. I just want to say that the officiating was pretty horrible. the knicks got away with alot and had alot of calls rewarded to them.and over the past few games, I've noticed that this celtics team really thrives off of energy. when they bring that intensity, they can beat anybody, but when it's gone, they can lose to anybody. I think alot of it has to with confidence. When we are executing offensively and hitting our shots, we have a certain swagger, and I love it. But when those same shots aren't falling, or we get worn down, the effort really isn't there on either end.oh, and the small-ball tonight was just ridiculous. I mean I know we didn't have much of a choice, but if isiah thomas wasn't retarded and had actually played channing frye in the second half, we probably would've lost this game.all hail pierce! I love how he took advantage of smaller players and really was aggressive taking it to the hole. He got plenty of good looks and shot a lot of free throws. He finished with 38 I think.Gomes also played very well. 20/14 or something close to that. He was involved in every play near the basket, which was very encouraging.Perk was beastly on defense. he had some very very nice blocks, 4 total. One came at a very crucial point in the game too (Nate Robinson's layup).

damn paul pierce gets every foul call in his favor. isiah got thrown out because they called a foul on telfair which clearly was not a foul. we should've beat you but you guys raped us in the 3rd quarter. but seriously what was up with all the fouls against both teams??? what a joke. the nba is becoming the biggest pussy sport. everything is a foul now.

I agree with you nykfan. there were way too many fouls called tonight, both ways.

Yes! 3 in a row baby! First time we have won 3 straight since the back end of the 04-05 season. [IMG]

I thought Doc did a good job with the subs, except I think he put Wally back in too quickly in the 4th. He had 5 fouls, he put him right back in a couple minutes later (with like 7:30 left). I think he should have waited until the 5 minute mark or so, but other than that, good job with the subs. I can't complain about small ball because we are forced to do it. Good job Doc.

THOSE REFS WERE f*cking TERRIBLE!!!

Paul Pierce
39 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals on 10-23 FG, 18-22 FT
The Truth showed up and made some huge plays tonight. He nailed his free throws (stroke is looking MUCH better), and he played tough. He shot and bricked too many 3's, but other than that he did a good job.

Ryan Gomes
22 points, 14 rebounds on 6-10 FG, 10-13 FT
GOOOOOOOMES was a monster tonight. He was a BEAST on the boards, made a countless amount of hustle plays, made a lot of clean up buckets, and played solid defense. EXCELLENT game.

Sebastian Telfair
19 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists on 5-10 FG, 8-9 FT
Welcome home Bassy. Excellent game, he penetrated at will, made some key baskets, and had a nice drive-and-kick display tonight (if Pierce could hit his 3's Telfair would have had 6-7 assists). Awesome job Bassy, and he didn't let Starbury burn him. He did a pretty damn solid job defending his cousin.

Wally Szczerbiak
20 points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists on 6-12 FG, 3-5 3FG, 5-5 FT
Wally got in foul trouble, and eventually fouled out, but he shot the ball extremely well tonight. Wally is so consistant, I love it.

Kendrick Perkins
3 points, 8 rebounds, 4 blocks on 1-2 FG
Perk was an absolute beast ONCE AGAIN! I love Perk, the last 5 games he's been awesome. He was the only center for us on the active roster and he stayed out of foul trouble. Awesome! Perk made huge defensive plays and he didn't let Curry do too much at all.

Rajon Rondo
5 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists on 1-4 FG
Rondo brought his hustle, solid defense, and he made some nice passes. But he pulled up for three 3's, and I was baffled by that. He usually passes up every open jumper he has, but tonight he pulled up on a defender and shot 0-3 from downtown. VERY unlike Rondo. But overall, a good game.

Delonte West
4 points, 1 steal on 1-8 shooting, 6 fouls
Delonte didn't have a good night at all. Not only did he foul out, and get away with 7 fouls [IMG] , but he couldn't buy a basket. 1-8 tells you enough. He made some excellent hustle plays though.

Gerald Green
3 points, 1 steal on 1-4 FG in 8 minutes
Gerald toyed with us. I could have sworn he was going to dunk on that break away lol. But I am happy he layed it off the glass and got a 3 point play instead of front rimming a power slam. But Gerald was so-so tonight. He didn't get a lot of run, and most of his playing time was not straight on with minutes, so he couldn't do all that much. But that was a nice steal/3-pt play sequence. And he also made a very nice pass inside but Rondo passed up the lay-up.

Brian Scalabrine
3 points, 1 block on 1-1 FG in 8 minutes
Solid defensive rotation tonight, and he nailed a 3. Scal has done a good job all season long, IMO.

Leon Powe
1 point, 2 rebounds in 8 minutes
Like Gerald, he didn't get many minutes in one piece. They were all scattered up (2 minutes here, 3 minutes there, 1 minute there, etc.). Couldn't really do anything.

Tony Allen
3 points on 1-1 FG in 5 minutes
TA barely played, but he did make a stupid move by fouling Francis on a 3 late in the game (he made the 3 too, but missed the FT).

I'm so happy we got the win though. Go Celtics! The next 3 games are VERY winnable too: @ Charlotte, vs. New York, and @ Milwaukee.

Next Game
Wednesday (11/22/06) @ Charlotte

Yeah the refs were terrible, on both sides. I was pissed off at them. BALKMAN'S BLOCK ON PIERCE WAS SUCH A GOALTEND. The ball was on its way down and above the cylindar haha.

Francis made that FT on the 4 point play, didn't he? I agree, what a stupid, stupid play by TA.

hahahaha good old tommy. I saw the game through the msg channel. they have some pretty good, unbiased announcers. Kenny Smith and some guy I've seen from college football I think.

Really? Francis converted the 4 point play? I could have sworn he missed it. Oh well. Regardless, it was an incredibly stupid move by Tony to even attempt to leap at him. We had the game in the bad, and that play gave New York a little window of oppertunity.

Also, something I forgot to mention in my game recap, LOL Isiah is such an idiot. What was the point of arguing that? Telfair got hit, fouled took 2 free throws. THEN, when the Knicks get the offensive possession after the fact, Isiah continues to argue and get 2 T's? Idiot.

I meant to post this last night but I fell asleep, but Gerald really impressed me and showed what kind of scorer he can turn into when he finger rolled that fast break off the glass rather than trying to dunk it. I'm sure last year he would have tried to plow it as hard as he could, and this just shows the progess the kid is making. Seems like he's working really hard just to get some PT and its really paying off for him. WAY TO GO GERALD!
