You couldn't be more right about the playing time % numbers. Problem is, if they're way off, what gives us faith that the rest of the numbers are good. I mean we can't just pick the ones that support our gut and call it evidence, can we?
Well, we found a bug in their software that calculates the playing time % numbers. That's for sure. They've had problems with the site not being up to date - like "through games of Feb. 1" on March 1. Some of the numbers, like "hands rating" are not describe anywhere. I remember writing the guys who make the site and asking and they're not sure what the hands rating really is either.
I had a 5 series BMW. It was a great car. My favorite. I bought it used and it was high mileage when I bought it. Tons of fun while it lasted. Then things started falling apart. It wasn't fun and lots of down time in the shop. I hope we are still in the end stage of fun and not the beginning phase of in the shop.
LOL. True. My issues were more along the lines of fuel pumps and wiring harnesses but if I could find another vintage 535i 5 speed manual I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Point is I got it at about 85K and it was awesome. Buck ten and everything turned to crap. Heartbeat includes eyes wide open and budget for restoration. Marion may very well be on the plus side of vintage fun. I hope he isn't on the maintenance side of vintage fun. I am a glass half full personality. If Matrix is a Bull I am rooting for him.
This is neither here nor there but did you guys see that Basketball Reference began posting shooting percentages based on shot charts? Ray Allen, for example, has shot .435 on corner threes during his career. Pretty darn slick.
Marion would be a great pickup for Indy. He'd start for them in place of George. I'm not sure Indy could do any better than Marion.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/source...-toward-signing-with-cavaliers-015708571.html Looks like Pacers aren't landing their 1st choice FAs either.
He met with the Pacers today. Bob Finnan @BobCavsinsider · 5h Pacers president Larry Bird said Shawn Marion probably wants to play for a championship contender The writer insinuated the Cavs.
If you're Shawn Marion you want minutes and a high-percentage chance to play for a championship. Marion can probably be the backup for both James and Love in Cleveland. If I'm him, that's where I go.
Seems to me he'd start and get all the minutes he could handle here. We're not exactly loaded at the SF position.
Well there's a lot of depth, if not a lot of quality/experience. I could see a scenario where Marion is not a rotation player just as easily as I could imagine him being the starter. He doesn't fit Thibs schemes well, his strengths don't fit the roster well and he's toward the very end of his career. Would any of you be shocked if Dunleavy, Butler, Snell and McDermott all played in front of him?
Based on reports, it sounds like Marion is weighing between money+minutes (Pacers) and ring-chase+minutes (Cavs).
My sense is that Butler is the starting SG and Snell is the backup SG. So that leaves McDermott and Dunleavy. We got Dunleavy to be a bench player, and I think he's such a defensive liability that playing McDermott could be no worse. Snell wasn't so great last year, but looked great in Summer League. If he is only modestly better in actual NBA games than last season, then we're looking at Kirk at SG or Dunleavy. In spite of his advanced age, Marion played 32 minutes a game last year, shot .482, and .358 from 3pt. He was about as effective as Lu as a rebounder, and always had a reputation as a defender. He might not have the foot speed he had as a younger guy, but he still has the IQ to get in the right place at the right time. I certainly think he'd be as good a defender as Dunleavy - in fact much better. IMO
Makes sense. My point was broader. There's already five guys on the roster who will get burn on the wing at some point. I can't point to one thing Marion does better than all of those guys. He's not the best shooter, handler or defender of the group. If Marion signs, one of the Bulls' swing men is going to be out of the rotation until injuries hit. And since Marion is not a specialist in any respect, it could very well be him.
