10 Years, just a random number, figure: let him enter Cooperstown.....retire his number and give 'em a plaque just prior to His HOF eligibility. Personally I don't care if that much is done next year....

However, to get a Monument, I'd make any player wait, why? Not all Legends are true Epic Icons, til they are no longer with us.

So, I say make an exception, and don't wait til Jeter's on his death bed to see the Monument he deserves IMO. Let him wait long enough for his legacy to grow, after years, let him culture, grow myth-like nostalgically, and give it to him in his 50s.

He still has to cement his legacy as an ambassador in his personal life, public life or life after baseball, (IMO Jeter will always have a life IN baseball) to reach true Yankee Legacy....

I'd love to hear what ya'll have to say, I expect some hell no's, some why not's,

Jeter's more than lived up to infamy as IMO the greatest All Time Yankee SS, amongst legendary Yankees. His #2 is almost a beacon of belonging in the park with his Monument. Not saying #1-9 all deserve monuments, only saying Jeter has well lived up to his original last number out of a line up to have more than earned his stone....

Then again I swear Yogi Berra got short changed, and more than deserves to have his monument....IMHO............

or does a player have to wait til his death to be honored like such. After all, you don't want to honor prematurely, imagine if OJ were a Yankee, and could hit, defend like he could run with a pig skin, would his number be removed????? If it were retired, I sure as hell hope so......I'd have a special OJ Jersey burning day at the park.....

The first accolade for Jeter would be for the Steinbrenners to invite him into the ownership group so this team has some credibility for the future.

Jeter IMO much like the boss would not allow this team to fail & I've no doubt would do whatever he could to continue the winning tradition that this team has pretty much maintained for so many years. Unfortunately I don't see him ever becoming part of the ownership group.

...the Derek Sanderson Jeter Monument should be dedicated on DJ's final home game this year.

...no need for any delay or grace period.
