...before the season began, if you had first told someone that Capuano, Green, and Rogers would be the starters in a 3 game series, then asked what team they'd be pitching for, the Yankees probably would have been one of their last guesses. ...needless to say, this is a very big series with the O's.
This is a big series for another reason - SHANE GREEN. This kid has shown a good make-up and good stuff along with success...a drafted homegrown starting pitcher 25 years old. Regardless of where the Yankees finish this season, Green could be a shining light pointing towards the Yanks' future. If he comes up with another good game vs Baltimore after the Detroit game, it'll be another solid building block in this kids' chances of becoming a big time pitcher (under pressure). This is not to say that he MUST pitch a good game , but he could very well be on the fast track to becoming one of the better young starters in the league......yep, I said it.
He has become a very pleasant surprise. As has McCarthy who has become a nice addition also. As Ron mentioned I never would have picked the Yankees to even sniff 500 with this pitching staff after losing 80% of our starters, but here we are still in the hunt. 2 out of 3 would be nice but a sweep would be effing amazing..
When interviewed by Kenney and company Greene mentioned when asked that his "arrival" as a starter came in his previous game against Baltimore.
