Agnostics don't waste their time mocking people who have faith. Atheists, in general, are as fanatical about their faith as most religious people I know. A truly agnostic person does not know one way or another, and doesn't claim to know. This is why I mostly don't comment on religious threads. I know mags is going to self-righteous about his belief in God, and I know Further is going to be self-righteous about his belief there is no God. As a truly objective observer, it does make me laugh that the atheists can't see how they appear to others outside the box of atheism. They are exactly as faith-based in their disbelief as a religious person is in their belief. They just seem to be a lot more mean about expressing their views.
ISIS is much more proficient at killing Christians than a lion in an arena ever could be. Plus, at least the lion put the carcass of the Christians to use by eating them, and lions don't discriminate based on one's religion. So, other than your "brilliant" snark that I'm sure you thought was going to get a laugh (and I'm sure did by some atheists), I'm guessing Christian children in Iraq would rather their parents had been eaten by lions prior to ISIS/Al Qaeda getting their hands on them.
Agree. Atheism is indeed as much a religion today as any religion is, well except they will never gain tax exempt status. Kurt Gödel told us in one of his papers that, it takes as much faith if not more to believe there is no God, than the most religious of men possess. So I will take that as my source to assume you sir, are only stating an axiomatic given.
It takes no faith to believe there are no such things as leprechauns. It takes no faith to believe that something nonexistent does not exist.
I should add that by "atheists" I'm solely talking about my impression of a handful of posters on this board. I've run into religious people who shoved their beliefs down the throats of others, too. It's a much larger percentage of the population, too. What I'm saying is I don't see any Fred Phelps here on Team God, but I see a few Richard Dawkins on Team No God.
I meant in our society, my friend. The post I was responding to strongly implied persecution was coming in our society, considering he said that the "hatred" shown on this forum was just a warmup. My understanding is that no one from ISIS posts here (though it would take a thorough analysis of the web site's traffic logs to be sure). I agree, though, that lions don't discriminate among their prey. We could all stand to be a bit more like lions.
Thank you for the clarification. I understand, and it's a valid point. Assuming only made an ass of me in this instance.
Hahahaaha Denny, I have been told differently, but all the same, one does not need to run the numbers. It is very obvious.
there very well may be a god or "creator" of some sort. could be some immortal drunk union dude from planet thorkonax 11 tasked with overseeing earth, and hes pissed off because he hasnt had a lunch break in billions of years. that would explain the "hands off" approach in my estimation, any god worth worshiping would be able to stop little babies from being shot, but hey, thats just me. immoratal drunk dude, if there is one, isnt really worth the time of day
Newssource, you might have more of a point about me and other atheists here if we were posting our views in all the threads instead of threads that relate to religious views in some way. But when there are threads about god or the Big Bang, or other topics that relate to religious or non religious views, of course we will discuss. This is a discussion board. You never seem bothered by many posters who post about their faith in god and you shouldn't, because this is a great place for discussion. From all sides. I wish we had a resident Buddhist, Hindu or other believer in other religion to lend their two cents to the discussions. Disagreeing is not akin to attacking even disliking, I enjoy, appreciate and respect most of the individuals who post here, regardless of atheistic/theistic views. I will even admit the poster I respect the least on this board is an atheist.
Everyone is an atheist when it comes to gods other than their own. Atheists just take it one step further.
No this is the "off topic" portion of the forum. You can choose to ignore the religious threads if you wish
Seriously, I've seen zero complaints either way. This is a pretty open site and people are encouraged to post their ideas, popular or not. As long as it's not hate speech and preferably not personal attacks.
