 I had the best weekend in my entire life this past weekend. Young Life is a youth group dedicated to the Lord. My cross country coach invited me on Monday, and said I would have the time of my life. He was definately correct. We had an amazing cop-turned-minister who spoke to us during the camp. He really got our attention and shed new ideas and light upon the listeners. He compared sin to disease, and had a ton of stories from the 70's and 80's that related to the Lord. The man made us spend 15 minutes outside to think about what Jesus had to go through (beatings, whips, crown of thorns, mockings, etc.) and we came back in if we definately have Jesus in our hearts. It really got me thinking about how I can always want a cell phone or a car, but looking at Jesus, it's indescribable what he went through. It makes me feel ashamed and selfish, and I thank God for what I have. It was special, those 15 minutes, because at the end of it, there was not one rainbow outside, but two! Honestly, it couldn't have turned out better. Other than the speaker, we got to bond with people we don't know very well, we got to play some ultimate frisbee and basketball, and we got to eat some delicious food. It was by far the best weekend of my entire life. I recommend you guys to look up Young Life on google and check it out. :happy0144:
Sounds pretty cool, but not really one of those things I'd do. Whenever someone talks religion I always have to argue it, because some of the things those guys say are really stupid. IMO of course.

HAHA I grew up in that stuff. @ granparents and 3 uncles and aunties are preachers. I use my own brain about such things now. No more brainwashing for me. I'm not saying dont believe Sunny, but I do think you should question EVERYTHING, if it true then all your answers will be answered and your faith will be even stronger. If not .......
Good for you. The last few months God has been a big part in my life..I've been going to a Catholic School all my life, and now I'm in one of the biggest if not the biggest catholic school in Atlanta. We pray every single class period, but when we pray I actually talk to God, and it helps. I know God is with me, and watching over me with his guidence after I pray. I went on a retreat at school to the top of stone mountain, if you know where that is in atlanta, it was really cool having the priest, and the arch bishop of atlanta up there to celebrate a mass, and celebrate everything we have..Getting closer to God can never hurt, even if you don't know the 1st thing about him..The stories of Jesus will get you intrigued, and it makes you feel good as a person after you pray, and adore Jesus..
I couldn't stick 2 minutes let alone 2 days with religion...I just have no fait or belief at all.But it sound slike you had a good weekend.
Some of my friends went up to this snow camp young life thing about a week or 2 ago. I've been to 2 or 3 of the weekly things with them, they are ok. I wouldn't want to be dedicated to it though, just not my thing.
That's cool. Were gonna be going to a huge youth gathering in Orlando in the summer of '07 for a week that should be awesome. We get to go to Disney World and Bush(sp?) Gardens while were down there also.
I used to go to YoungLife stuff when I was in high school and believed in God. It was pretty cool, but there was some hypocritical stuff going on in that. It was kinda frustrating, but c'est la vie.
nothing against what you believe in but maybe they wanted you to think you were selfish so you wouldn't buy that cell phone and give that money to the church...nothing against you or anything..just my view on it

It might be the phoniness about it...or the hypocritical aspects of it...or the fact that they make you feel guilty about how you live and take advantage of it...
...Ugh...The problem nowadays is that everyone thinks they're right, and they're particular sect will be the only ones going to heaven...whatever. I got into an argument with some people from Taylor once, and they told me that Gandhi was in hell because he didn't follow their particular view...

I was thinking that instead of complaining and whining for a new phone, think of what Jesus Christ went through. A lot has been going on with me through the past few days. But there is nothing wrong with dedication.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>...Ugh...The problem nowadays is that everyone thinks they're right, and they're particular sect will be the only ones going to heaven...whatever. Each religion is a little out there, I'll admit it. I guess I don't have an answer for that.I was touched by God this past weekend, thats all I know. And I have a lot more work to do before I can be certain I go to heaven.
I go to a catholic school and we have a retreat every year, but I'm not into that emotional sh*t so I never go. I feel uncomfortable, bored, and just straight uninterested when people talk about religion, but I guess every one has their opinions. Glad you had a good weekend
