We have a gym at work, I try to go 4 days a week (on Thursday I have an after work committment), although sometimes, like yesterday, I have to work late and don't. I can't swim, alas, and don't have access to a pool. Terrible knees. (I'm old, dudes.) I do 6 laps (1.5 miles) on treadmill at 4 mph and 5% upgrade. The I do light weight training, has to be light due to repeat injuries. Then core, using that large beach ball. You guys know that? Lie down with beach ball between ankles and do leg lfits, believe me you feel it. Then drape over it and do situps. Some day I'm going to have abs, if I don't die first!
I only go once a week. I started doing work outs at home because you can get just as good a workout at home and its so much more convienent than going to a packed gym after work. Also, I don't feel like working out right after work. I just go on the weekends to use equipment that's hard to duplicate at home, like lat and back work. Pet Peeve at the gym, why do people lay their water bottles on stuff and walk off? It's ok if they are going to get a drink or get a towel, but I've seen people trying to reserve equipment for like 5+ minutes.
Ya I have noticed that also. I have also seen people leave a big puddle of sweat on the benches to reserve them.
Depends what you want. Pull ups and home workouts are fine if you just wanna lose weight and such. If you actually want to get big muscles and not have the body of a 13 year old girl then the gym is a must.
I go to the gym about 3 days a week, run (4-5 miles) once or twice a week, play basketball once a week, and mountain bike once or twice a month.
