Obviously the Yanks need as many wins as possible if they want to make the playoffs, and, Shane Green is pitching. The Tigers are battling for a playoff spot- the game is in Detroit. They've just beaten the Yanks yesterday in the first game of this 3 game set. Regardless of whether or not the Yanks make the playoffs this year, the continued development of Green as a starting pitcher is much more important for the future success of this team. He's done very well for himself in his first few major league starts. He DOES have good stuff and seems to be a tough competitor. This start (OF COURSE) shouldn't make or break his chances of becoming a top flight pitcher....but if he pitches well, it could be another building block for putting him on the fast track at becoming the best home grown Yankee starter in a long time...and that is significant. memo to '59.....does Green have an "E" at the end of his name? C'mon...show us all how smart you are and how stupid I am. dikhead
