With two more strikeouts last night Dellin Betances tied Goose Gossage for 2nd in strikeouts by a reliever in franchise history with 122. Next up is Mariano Rivera who holds the record with 130 set in 1996.
_________________________ Wow, how about that! Jeez....Betances, kinda gives us an idea of what kind of season he's having and HOW GOOD HE CAN BE down the line. WOW, good info! Impressive....very....two Hall of Famers- Mo and Goose. OUTSTANDING!
Its really pretty amazing what this kid has accomplished this season. Imagine how more effective he'll be as a closer when he only has to get 3 outs.
I don't think anyone saw this one coming; ie, at the Beginning of the Season. Who ever would of thought in April, what Betances would do? Most of us here have favored wanting to see Betances as The Fireman Closer. Tho' he's often done a great job "cleaning up a mess", putting the brakes on when needed prior to the 9th. Let Robertson set up Betances. Otherwise, its no longer making sense, to keep Dellin from Closing if not now, then next year, or bust....!!!
