    ...same here.

...But like I said, I'm not buying it. I mean why would the Steins leak something like that?...the timing makes no sense because with very few exceptions, the Yanx have long had a policy of not renewing or discussing contracts during the season with their players. So why would they make an exception with their GM?

Cashman is only as good as the size of the check he can write and lately thats not working either. The farm system is a disgrace and has been so for a long while now. If he's back Hal better get used to a lot of empty seats.

I read an article last week, that was the complete opposite of this one noted in the OP....

Saying basically, if the Yanx don't go to PS play, Cashman is as good as gone...

Yet its all conjecture, every story out there, told to a friend of a friend of a friend, who was good friends with a sports reporter.....lot's of rumors in the mill these days. Just that rumors, of which no Journalist really knows what's going on behind Yankee Brass Closed Doors, and they won't know until its made public, either way.....

I do believe a majority of Yankee Fans, believe Cashman is as good as gone, or at least many want to see him go...! Just saying... 合掌

Here are the reasons why the Yankees could very well be headed for booring mediocrity in the next couple of years without any developing young star-type players on the field.
Figure out how much of it is Cashman's fault, then make a decision on whether or not to bring him back - which the Yankees probably will.

    1) The organization's inability to draft and produce at least ONE top flight starting pitcher who has been clearly good enough to be a mainstay near the top of the rotation since ANDY PETTITTE !
    2) The continuation of signing veteran types to fill holes instead of giving a couple of their better farmhands a good long look to see if they can develop further at the MLB level.
    3) Continuing to give BIG long term contracts to free agents into their late 30's early 40s <--- Arod

It is as simple as that.

In 2013, the Yanks drafted in the first round, a 3B Jagielo, a big athletic outfield slugger type, Judge.
They also drafted a LH-SP in the 1st round.
I think that draft could turn this franchise around very quickly if at least two of those players become good major leaguers. It could also further sink them into bloated mediocrity/ non-relevancy if that draft is a BUST.

If those players are busts, I would certainly replace most of the minor league directors/development personnel.

Girardi should've started shaking this lineup up a loooong time ago when it became apparent the Yanks were dropping, dipping sinking towards the bottom of the league in scoring.

He would've been better off picking the lineup out of a hat at least to lighten things up and take a little pressure off. WTF would go wrong?
They would score 3 or less runs again? lol
