Which player should be put up on the homepage for player of the week?IMO, it's Dwyane Wade.29.5 ppg, 7.5 apg, 6.2 rpg, 1.7 spg. My runner up is Baron Davis. 22 ppg, 10.6 apg, 1.6 spg. After that, it's Lebron and Carmelo.BTW, you can find stats on NBA.com.
You can't do Dwyane Wade. How can you? They went 1-3 last week, including a loss AT HOME to New York by 24. Wade may have put up numbers, but I don't care if he shoots 90% and scores 50 a night, they are losing.I say give it to LeBron, Cleveland went 3-1 last week and LeBron averaged 29.5 points on .513 shooting, 6.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game.
Yeah, I'd say LeBron. He won the actual NBA player of the week award too. Wade has been great, but we've been losing.

The team's performance shouldnt factor in in my opinion. It should all have to do with how well the player is playing.

Let's say Miami went 12-70 (obviously not going to happen) and D-Wade averaged 38/7/7, would you think he should be MVP? I think not. Same deal here.It completely baffles me that you said this. Winning doesn't help determine player of the week? What good is a player's numbers when they are producing losses? I can't believe you said that, CB4. Wow.
MVP and player of the week are completely different. MVP is the player who best leads his team, and leads them to a great record with his stellar play. That has to do with the team's winning, but player of the week simply has to do with the player who played the best throughout the week. I dont think the rest of the team really matters as long as the player is playing better than everyone else in the League.
I agree with CB32, even though I love dwade and everything, I think lebron is the player of the week. Lebron is a monster there is no way going around that and he could basically be the player of the week every week.
I know what you mean CB4, but just put "the ability to win that week" into part of the requirements for player of the week. So the player of the week is the player that plays the best, with the best stats, and wins the games.I have to go with LeBron as well for this past week. The Cavaliers are playing the Grizzlies tomorrow and I can't wait to see that game.
IMO player of the week just should recognize the best stats. I think the whole idea is seeing who can put up the most insane stats with a small sample size.I also think that there should be an MVP and a POY so that we don't always have to have the kobe v. nash arguments
