    This nation is so reverse-racist and no, even if we get a future white President that, alone, will not make us a post-reverse-racism society. Reverse-racism is deeply embedded and institutionalized. That said, if we ever get a white President, that will be a good step in showing that people are slowly overcoming their reverse-racism prejudices.

    Ok, so why is it that people who are black would want to only watch shows with black actors? Isn't that a bit racist? Do the race of the actors attract or repel you from a show? Having a BET channel is like saying, "We're going to have a segregated channel with no other races on it"

    I know there is a cultural thing etc. But on the other hand, are the black shows just going to promote sterotypes, have people speaking "ebonics". That sort of thing just promotes racial division in my view.

    it's a shitty double standard, just like the N Bomb - anyone black says it it's ni**a and friendly togetherness, anyone else says it, it's DEFINITELY ni**er and racist and negative. it's one of the saddest and emotionally responsive words around, but it is used as a crutch and excuse for so much bullshit.

    I really couldn't care less about the color of someone's skin, but double standards and shitty manipulation of society and its feelings about it kinda piss me off.

    It's just the opposite. Consider that by putting the word Black in the network title it makes it easier for white people to avoid having to see black programming. "Oh B.E.T.? Whew, I'll just skip right over that." While an evil network like El Rey is making it harder for white people to avoid English speaking Hispanic programming by not putting what their agenda is in the network title. Instead of complaining that white people don't have a W.E.T. network they should happy that blacks labeled their own drinking fountain coloreds only so white people don't accidently sip from it.

    Not saying that at all. BET and El Rey don't care if you watch their networks. Actually they'll appreciate it if you did since higher ratings means higher advertising rates. The only people truly caring about this are white people because they don't have a network that is clearly labeled for white people. I was merely pointing out that by having Black in the title it makes it easier for you to find more white friendly television programing.

    It may be a bit racist to want to see programming that reflects your race/culture but, especially when media is dominated by shows that doesn't, it's not a particularly dangerous form of racism. There are many types of racism, inherent in all of us; for example, it's been shown that people tend to manifest more positive reaction when they see images of people of their own ethnicity. Some amount of tribalism is innate.

    When people talk about racism being "bad," they're generally talking about harmful forms of racism like prejudice or a (conscious or subconscious) desire to treat people of other ethnicities differently.
