Being a good shotblocker has to do more with help side defense than 1 on 1 defense. Just because Jermaine swats alot of shots, it doesn't mean he's one of the best defenders in the League. I would probably give him top 15 though.

I've seen the Pacers play quite a bit, since I'm a Piston fan.

I'm trying not to let it bother me but every thread in this board turns into something with the Pacers and I'm getting tired of it. I told you that this needed to stop before, this is my last warning. (This is not only about this thread but a couple I've looked over tonight). Jermaine O'Neal blocks shots and rebounds but he's not a top 10 defender in the NBA, period.

Allen Iverson gets a lot of steals so I guess that means he's a top 10 defender to huh? Who cares about the fact that he's mediocre at anything else on defense. And Emeka Okafor must be the best defensive player in the league then since he's averaging over 4 bpg huh?

Take the top 3 from spg, bpg, and drpg and you got the best defenders.

Andrei Kirilenko, Gerald Wallace and Shawn Marion put up huge defensive stats but the difference is that they are great 1 on 1 defenders as well.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Pacers fan forever @ Nov 22 2006, 06:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Subject: Best Defenders in the NBAStats: BPG - 1) Emeka Okafor 2) Jermaine O'neal 3) AK-47Forgive me for telling the truth</div> This is not just about this topic. Yeah, bring up pointless BPG statistics after 10 games...doesn't prove anything.

Quit basing defense solely on stats.

Has it ever occured to you that playing great lock down defense isn't a stat? You basically just said that guys like Bruce Bowen or Kobe Bryant aren't great defenders because it doesn't show in their stats...

Thats horrible defense, I'm not saying thats what JO does, hes a pretty good defender. He's not a real great 1 on 1 defender, and stuff like that happens; where you get burned than you block him from behind..

Look at the stats so far.

You really make no sense with some of your opinions. Do you then think that Zach Randolph is now a top 5 player in the league because he's put up great numbers so far? You make no sense at all.
