Those Willow tree branches sure smarted. My mother would send me up stairs with a "wait till your father comes home". Upon arrival she'd drop the dime on my transgression. Hearing him come up the stairs to administer punishment was a painful as the actual thing.
I remember one time (I must have been about 11) & I was told "Go get something for me to hit you with" (I know dumb) I came back with a pillow. Apparently he didn't appreciate my humor & instead proceeded to beat the piss out of me with a radiator brush.
