@ November 21st, 2006 | 10:30PM ETThe game begins today as the city rivals square off for the first time this season. Don't miss it! From The Lakers' Point of ViewThe Lakers (7-3) look to extend their winning streak to 4 games tonight as they host their intra-city rivals the Los Angles Clippers (6-2). This will be the first of four meetings between the teams this season after splitting the season series last year. The Lakers also come into tonight's game carrying a record of 16-2 in their last 18 games at home.Kobe has been averaging 40.8 points per game against the Clipps, BUT he has been battling a not 100% knee. Put those 2 factors together, and his performance is unpredictable.Concerning the rest of the team, they have been doing great, with both young and old surprising the doubters. Expect both Andrew Bynum and Lamar Odom to do some damage to the Clippers. From The Clippers' Point Of VeiwFollowing their exciting 103-97 overtime win over the 76ers on Saturday, the Clippers will look to win their first road game of the season when they tip-off against the Los Angeles Lakers at the STAPLES Center Tonight. The Clippers, who boast a perfect 6-0 record when playing at home, are 0-2 on the road so far this season.Elton Brand. How do I put this? Oh, he's been doing very well. Coming off a 33 point-12 rebound victory, I don't see him stopping. Sure, his performance early on wasn't legendary, but I think he'll be able to put a mark on this game. A big mark.Leading their division, the Clippers look to defend their division title tonight.Game CommentsI have a feeling this will be close. It's a coin toss to me. Nonetheless, it'll be a great game and exciting to say the least. The Lakers come off a 3 Game winning streak, and face a road winless team. But on the other hand, you cannot sleep on the Clippers. They are everything you need to be a great team.ConclusionI have no real prediction for this game, as a statistical game, it'll go to the Clippers. As a fan's game, it'll go to the Lakers.Sorry it wasn't a very pretty presentation. I've been sick all day and I feel like I'm floating on my chair right now.
I am going to go with the Lakers on this one. I think that Bynum and Brown will be able to play fairly effective defense on Brand and that is the ultimate factor. I am not going to say they will stop him by any means, but they will make him more and more tired as the game goes along. If the game gets close, Kobe has the ability to take over at the end and its nearly impossible to stop. Also, Lamar Odom is way too much of a mismatch to handle. He can take you off the dribble, or shoot from the outside. While the Clips have alot of weapons as well, I just really love how the Lakers are playing right now...
Nice thread bro, but it's not nationally televised (should be in the Lakers section). But it is on NBA TV and I definitely will be watching. I can't wait. LA vs. LA is always a greay matchup. I'm willing to bet $1 million that LA wins tonight. But seriously, I'll take the Lakers. Kobe is a true competitor, and he's going to do whatever it takes to make sure everyone knows LA is still a Lakers town.
Oops, might as well move it then. I juts checked the thing on NBA.com and it said NBA TV so yeah...GO LAKERS!
I think that this will be a good game. As long as the Lakers cut back on their turnovers which the Clippers can score off easy...I think the Lakers will pull it out. I look for Kobe to have a good game as well as Andrew Bynum. The guy I especially look for to play well is Lamar though.
What I wanna know is who decides who the "home team" is? I think they both should be wearing their white uniforms each time, ha!Obviously I'm going with the Clippers to take this one, by no more than prolly 4 points or so...
I don't think it matters who... it's basically always a Laker home game because they have a much bigger fanbase.
here's what I wonder. do they actually have a big introduction for the "home" team and not one for the "away" team?

Also, I will be going to the Lakers @ Clippers game on December 2nd (very good seats btw) and I will find out if the Lakers are treated like any other team when they are away.

Clippers fans hate the Lakers more than any other team, they're basically the biggest rival the franchise has ever had.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CelticBalla32 @ Nov 21 2006, 03:08 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>I can't wait. Well when the Kings leave Sacramento, they can move the Clippers there so we don't have this stupid 'hallway' thing. My prediction: Clippers by 8My hope: Clippers by 81 (get it? 81? hahahaha)

End of the first - WOW KOBE IS ON FIYYAAA!! This is the Kobe we all know and love, I'm happy to see him finally have a start like this. Quinton Ross is an excellent defender, but when Kobe is on he's basically mouthing the words "Can't Touch This.. bouu nouu nouu nouu." Brand is all over the place, however, and it's still a very tight one.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (The Lefty @ Nov 21 2006, 10:15 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>KOBE!turnovers kill us</div>It's hurting both teams, and if I'm not mistaken the Clippers have more. And OMG KOBE!!!!11!1 :drunk: He always does extremely well against the Clipps.
Good Game so far...the Lakers keep gaining a nice lead and the Clips keep making nice runs afterward, but I think the Lakers have this game in the bag as long as they don't do anything stupid...
