Jeb Blazevich succinctly summarized Todd Gurley's latest entry in his Heisman Trophy campaign.

"And he can pass," Blazevich said.

    Treon Harris accused of assault

Florida Gators freshman backup quarterback Treon Harris is under investigation after he was accused of sexually assaulting a female student on campus early Sunday morning, the school announced Monday.

The University of Florida Police Department and the Gainesville Police Department are working together to assist with the collection and analysis of forensic evidence, according to the school statement.

The Gainesville Police Department said in a statement that it wouldn't have an active role in the filing of any charges because jurisdiction lies with the UFPD.

    Police: Mornhinweg treated after fight

University of Florida police were called to the stadium Monday night to break up a fight involving two Gators football players.

Sophomore quarterback Skyler Mornhinweg and true freshman defensive lineman Gerald Willis III fought outside Ben Hill Griffin Stadium before campus police responded at approximately 7:06 p.m. ET.

Mornhinweg told police the fight was over his cleats, which he said were located by the team's staff in Willis' locker. The QB sustained "small lacerations on his lower lip," according to the police report, and was taken to Shands emergency room for treatment.

"Upon our arrival, the individuals had already been separated," university police spokesman Maj. Brad Barber said. "After reviewing with both individuals involved, they each filled out a complaint withdrawal, and no charges were filed."

    Kentucky suspends Lloyd Tubman

Kentucky freshman defensive end Lloyd Tubman has been suspended indefinitely from the Wildcats' football team after being charged with rape.

Tubman's suspension was announced Tuesday by the school's athletic department.

"Obviously, I'm very concerned about the allegations and all parties involved," Kentucky coach Mark Stoops said. "We're working extremely hard to develop quality young men on and off the field. We will continue to cooperate with the local and campus authorities while the process takes its course."

    Georgia suspends RB Todd Gurley

Georgia Bulldogs tailback Todd Gurley has been suspended indefinitely pending an investigation into an alleged violation of NCAA rules, the school announced Thursday.

A source told ESPN's Joe Schad that the NCAA investigation centers around whether Gurley was given money for autographs, memorabilia or the use of his likeness. Georgia officials did not reveal the alleged violation.

"I'm obviously very disappointed," Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a statement. "The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri."

No Todd Gurley? No problem for Georgia.

    This time, anyway.

Mississippi State No. 1 in AP poll

Mississippi State is the new No. 1 in The Associated Press college football poll, replacing Florida State and making the fastest rise to the top spot in the history of the poll.

The Bulldogs received 45 first-place votes from the media panel Sunday. Mississippi State beat Auburn 38-23 on Saturday, its third straight victory against a top-10 team. The Bulldogs are the first team in the poll's 78-year history to go from unranked to No. 1 in five weeks. The previous mark was six weeks by Ohio State in 1954.

SEC's Mike Slive to retire in 2015

SEC commissioner Mike Slive will retire next summer after 13 years leading the league and plans to begin treatment for a recurrence of prostate cancer.

The 74-year-old Slive said his retirement will take effect July 31.

"I have been blessed in more ways than I can count and I will have as much passion for this job on my last day as I did on my first," Slive said Tuesday in a statement released by the conference. "I consider my health situation a temporary detour in a remarkable road that has allowed me to meet amazing people, experience incredible events and celebrate historic victories. I will relish my final year in this position and look forward to being the biggest fan of the SEC for many years to come."

The statement said Slive's recurrence was diagnosed after back surgery in August.

No. 10 Georgia dominates Arkansas for second straight SEC road win

Nick Chubb provided an encore performance more than worthy of his well-known predecessor.

    AD to evaluate Will Muschamp

Florida athletic director Jeremy Foley said Monday that he would continue to evaluate the status of football coach Will Muschamp "as it plays out" over the season.

"At the beginning of the season, we said we would evaluate the season as it plays out," Foley said in a statement. "We will continue to do so. Our sole focus right now is supporting our coaching staff and players as they prepare for Georgia."

    Georgia seeks Gurley reinstatement

University of Georgia officials will apply to the NCAA on Wednesday for reinstatement of star running back Todd Gurley, who has been suspended indefinitely from the team since Oct. 9 for allegedly receiving money for signing autographs.

"Todd has confirmed his desire to seek reinstatement, and the university fully supports Todd's request," the university said in a statement issued Wednesday.

"The university hopes for and expects a prompt ruling by the NCAA so that Todd, his coaches, and teammates can adequately prepare for our next game."

Georgia officials are hoping that Gurley, a leading Heisman Trophy candidate before his suspension, can return for the Nov. 1 game against Florida in Jacksonville, according to people familiar with the investigation.

    Treon Harris replaces Jeff Driskel

Embattled coach Will Muschamp on Wednesday named true freshman Treon Harris the starter at quarterback for the Florida Gators.

Harris replaces fourth-year junior Jeff Driskel, who has struggled mightily in the Gators' last four games.

"[Harris] is getting all the reps right now," Muschamp said, "and Jeff is certainly going to have a role in that game."

Florida has a bye week before facing No. 9 Georgia (6-1, 4-1 SEC) on Nov. 1 in Jacksonville, Florida.
