A coach can communicate to a student and give advice and insight towards making continuous improvements, untapping potential. Sure the team needs talent, but that talent needs to be properly handled. Obviously Long had lost his impact on the team. Its no different than say golf. Tiger has got amazing talent, but he's only had one excellent swing doctor since his dad. I'm perplexed why you of all people don't get this. This move to fire long has nothing to do with expecting the offense to improve. Its about forcing the players to deal with a new coach that is going to analyze their batting habits. Its like getting a new supervisor at work, someone hired from the outside....you have to start all over again from the beginning. And in baseball, small improvements like a hit/week make a big difference....like Pasta playing in the show vs. Posting the Pasta show.
