Yeah there was no time because "Drexler" was their superstar. Drazen could only play SG. I will ask you again, "do you think drazen deserved to take away minutes from a prime drexler?"
Looked it up. In the 89-90 season, Petrovic played 13 mpg in 77 games and averaged 8 ppg while shooting 46% from the three point line. But we added Ainge the following season and Petrovic' minutes went way down, he only played 18 games and shot 17% from the three point line for us before we traded him to NJ mid season. We went on to finish 63-19 that season.
Drazen won a lot of awards before coming here, died way too young at 28 and was voted greatest European Basketball player in history as well as 2 other Euro awards and is in the HOF. His stint with the Blazers was a small size of his career and he was not used in Portland except for spot minutes off the bench. With the Nets he thrived.
im just gonna leave this here I've watched this at least 5x since i discovered it, such a sad story of broken friendship and chances to mend relationships lost due to tragedy. they specifically talk about Drazen and the Blazers @ 35mins, Vlade and Magic. also a lil footage of Sabas when they played the Soviets. sorry about the subtitles, couldnt find a clean one.
So you're saying he should have been 'untouchable'. I thought the Blazers fell in love with their players and never let them go?
Petro was my favorite young Blazers player at the time. But there was no room for him at the inn. I was happy with his subsequent success, and saddened by his death.
Someone should make this a running stream in Leonar_'s locker Sabas holds the rebound for no longer than 1 second
yeah, but can Sabas do this ? :
Was the question, who 'are' the best or who 'is' the best? I took it as who was some of the best euro born players to ever put on a Blazer uniform. Sabas was mentioned. And I very quickly added Drazen's name. He was a great player. It's too bad we lost him at a young age.
"(Sabonis) has every move there is." I so thoroughly enjoyed watching that. Shivers. You be repped. And I quote:
