ATLANTIC CITY — A 45-year-old man who on Friday finished serving 30 years in prison is charged with killing his mother two days after being released, authorities said. Steven Pratt was arrested Sunday morning, less than 48 hours after he was freed from Bayside State Prison for killing his neighbor in 1984. http://www.nj.com/atlantic/index.ss...ing_30_years_for_murder.html#incart_most-read
Or an argument for "no parole" offenses. Seriously, the guy killed someone, why is that person ever given the chance to be free again?
He was 15yrs old when convicted. Meaning he must have been 13 or 14 when he committed the murder. It's a tough deal, do we keep people locked in prison for the rest of their lives for a crime committed when they're a kid?
Or an argument for prison reform. The guy has spent two-thirds of his life in prison. If the system were in any way effective at rehabilitating criminals, it would have shown. It isn't.
+1 Obviously the current system isn't working. You become who you surround yourself with. Surrounding yourself with murderers and violent criminals makes it much harder to overcome violence. So what do we do? I always liked any violent criminal being shipped to some Island in the middle of some ocean infested with sharks. AirDrop food and let them fend for themselves.
sometimes, when you're in prison, I imagine you're just waiting to get out to exact revenge on society.
I'm still a fan of dumping them all on an island and letting them work it out for themselves Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I know I'd buy that pay per view package. I think a lot of people would, and that would easily fund it
