Simmons: I’d like to see them package $7 million to $13 million of expirings with C.J. McCollum and a first-rounder and get one more impact player. But we’re nitpicking. (By the way, they DID offer the max to Hibbert once … and Indiana might blow up its 2014 team, as we discussed earlier. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.)

Lowe: Robin Lopez is one of those expiring contracts, and one way or the other, Portland is going hard after a center in the 2015 offseason.

Simmons: News flash: A “Hibbert, George Hill and Donald Sloan for McCollum, Lopez and the Wright–Freeland–Robinson expirings” deal works on the Trade Machine.

That's too much honestly. I'm not a fan of George Hill, although I guess he would be okay as a backup.

I'm one of the few who is in favor of Hibbert. I think he's a high risk/high reward type of gamble that could make us a contender. With that said, I'm not a fan of giving up CJ AND Rolo for a guy with a reputation like Hibbert. We could just sit and wait until the offseason if we really wanted to nab him.

I think it's a fair deal.

Lopez and Hibbert are a wash even if I prefer Lopez.

Hill is a little overpaid but he'd be a potential 6MOTY here and could play the 2 with Lillard.

Idk if I'd do it but it makes us a better defensive team.

Hibbert would be a GREAT trade. Talk about getting something for nothing. I'll bet once he comes to Portland he becomes the most improved player in the NBA!

I like RoLo. And I think he's a great personality fit for the Blazers. But I also think he's a tremendous fit just in terms of how his team uses his position, and that players like Hibbert and Noah would flourish to an even greater extent in Portland.

I don't know. I would be torn by this. If Hibbert didn't go through that horrible offensive lull last year it would be an easier deal to get behind.

That's the reason why the this would even be a possibility. I'm a huge fan of Hibbert, but i don't know if I would even risk it.

And what if Gasol can be had this summer? I think he's better suited for this type of team. Good free throw shooter, great defensively (not as good as hibbert), and he's an amazing passer.

I would rather wait for Gasol if I was to pick between Gasol or Hibbert imo

See I believe Hibbert and Lopez are 1a and 1b not always in that order. I don't personally believe it upgrades or downgrades the Blazers current roster.

Hibbert isn't offensively gifted.. nor is Lopez. Throwing out the last 40 games Hibbert played last year...

Both are good position defenders and use their bodies well on defense.
Both rebound the basketball well. Both are the anchors of their teams defense.
Really if you put Lopez on the Pacers last year one could argue they don't lose or gain anything.
Could argue the same with Hibbert on the Blazers.
If Hibbert was a Blazer.. He wouldn't get anymore touches offensively than Lopez does.
He would be the 5th.. even 6th/7th option offensively...

My concern is would someone who has a max contract and has been the #2.. or #3 option on his team accept a role like Lopez has shown to be so willing to do so. Honestly I don't think he would.

I wait for Marc Gasol and see if he wants to even leave Memphis... And even if he would be willing to play without his brother. He wants to play with Pau.
If not I keep Lopez. He's not as good as Gasol but he's shown to be willing to be an afterthought offensively and fill a role. Hibbert hasn't shown that ability.

Call me a homer. Get your stats. IDC I know what I see with Hibbert/Lopez. Both are less-than-gifted offensively. And both play the same on the other end.

I would do it. Especially if hibbert gave his praise. He seems like he is friendly with lma, and a motivated hibbert changes the culture of an entire defense. He is a better defender than rolo when motivated.

Would he be motivated here? I believe so. With a big rotation of Kaman, Leonard, hibbert and lma, we would have the biggest group of bigs in the league.

George hill would be a perfect fit next to lillard. Hill can play good defense on a guard so lillard can guard the worse of the two.

I say we replace Leonard with Lopez and you got a deal.

Kaman and LMA at PF and Hibbert and Lopez at center!

Doubt they would go for that. You might be able to convince them to take Leonard instead of Robinson though.

Is George Hill that great of a defender? didn't Teague light him up so much PG had to switch onto him? I understand that was because Antic pulled Hibbert out of the paint but pretty sure George Hill is still trying to figure out where Teague is.

Hill would be our best bench player. And one play doesn't make a player. Hill has always been highly regarded for his defense.

Lopez and CJ are nothing?

Did you not watch basketball last season?

im not sure there are many pgs who can stay in front of teague

Hill would help be insurance for next year if Wes decides to walk. Although I would hate to see Wes just walk away but you never know what will happen.

Is Hibbert really that much of an upgrade over Lopez? Lopez is one of the top defenders in the paint. Like HIbbert, he doesn't wrack up the blocks but he lowers opponent FG%. And Lopez is a great finisher inside whereas Roy Hibbert is pathetic. 44% for a center? Are you shitting me?

He shoots lower because he takes shots further away for the Pacers. In our offense his FG% would go up.

I trust Olshey! The man hasn't steered us wrong yet.

Unless, of course, you think that Meyers Leonard and CJ McCollum may have been better off being, say, John Henson and Giannis Antetokuompo.

Leonard yes, but I think McCollum may pan out to be something nice!

He only shoots 47.5% in the paint, which is also bad for a center. As a contrast, Robin Lopez shoots over 59% and is just as good on the short jump shots.

I would make a trade for Hibbert. Mainly because I think he is a defensive difference maker. Robin is decent but not to level Hibbert is even everything is being played out just right.

those bucks really ought to be amazing this year with all those all stars.

i kid, i kid

Nah, probably about the same at the 2006 Blazers... worse conference but no one as polished as Roy.

Even having a down year Hibbert still shut down the paint: 98 DRtg with a career-high 5.0 DWS.

RoLo is one of the best rim defenders and will cost cheaper. I don't see the need for this trade.
