I agree, it took WAY to long to get this series started.

pretty sure the dates are set beforehand to accommodate people who want to buy a ticket with, you know, a date on it

but you think thats bad, wait until the alds/nlds round goes to 7 games, and the "play in" game, goes to best of 3, then best of 5, then best of 7 as well

Re: WORLS SERIES picks..get em while they're hot

WS- Game 1, my Brother In Law, and His good friend also my own buddy, both were at yesterdays Game in KC. They both informed me, no one's tickets had yesterday's date on them at all. The Tix only had 2014 World Series Game 1, with both teams names. Today's game 2 tix are also without dates. Keep in mind alot of season tix holders purchase their Post Season Tix a month in advance. Those never have the 1st two WS DATES on them. The very majority of Series tix these days don't have those dates, as many of those tix are printed too far in advance. My bro-in law had his ticket 3 weeks ago, since he's season tix holder in KC. His/My buddy got his tix at the call waiting window, and those did not have the date either. By now all other games tix do indeed have the dates on them...

Besides that's not my point. My point is one day/year were going to have a Series delve into Nov. Snow almost always falls in the 2nd-3rd week in Denver. With record low temps, and record snow falls, its only a matter of time, before MLB is going to take a hard look at the scheduling. My take shorten the season to 154 games. As well quit pandering and rolling over for the PR Monster, MLB is in bed with.

Rob as I mentioned a while back, they either need to cut the season back to 154 games or add approx 4-6 double headers per team during the course of the season.

It's not news to me Rick

Several of us have mentioned as much over the last month, cut the season to 154 games, eliminate the WC one game playoff. Keep batters from stopping the 20 second pitching clock. There are dozens of other ways to shorted these long waits, other than shorten the season as well.

Put the playoffs on a tighter schedule if nothing else....

Re: WORLS SERIES picks..get em while they're hot

i guess my point was, a date they can plan on being there. i understand they are sold much earlier, but it seems strange to have the game day float on the time in which both teams clinch. i guess you could push it up a day if both teams sweep or something, but even then, so many wheels are in motion at that point (hotel reservations, plane tickets, etc)

i think the double header idea is a no brainer! used to love going to one ticket doubleheaders back in the day at candlestick. none of this "day/night" garbage

Re: WORLS SERIES picks..get em while they're hot

...I liked the old days of scheduled DHers too, but there's no way the owners would give up the revenue of the 8 games that would be lost by going back to 154 games.

...as far as the scheduled DHers, they'd just about have to make them day/night DHers with separate tickets because soaring ticket prices for one game have made it an occasional luxury for a lot of people/families...can you imagine the price for one ticket for 2 games at YS vs Boston on a Saturday in the legends suites ?...lol.

Back to the OP, "get 'em while they're hot"

    I'm going with the Yankees.....!

My 2nd pick, is: whoever wins.......since Frisco can only win with Bumgarner, that would have to be KC here I come...!

This KC team, they believe they can win. That's a dangerous thing.

I can't believe that they're not going with Bumgarner in this crucial game 4

I'm not talking about the SF team. My point, was simply that this young team has no fear. The believe in themselves and execute. Giants come off as if they expect to be in the WS...don't see KC taking things for granted. Reminds me of '03.

Giants win big 11-4 with Bumgarner going tomorrow for a crucial game 5 at home.

...although maybe the network would have preferred different teams in the WS, it has been very entertaining so far.

Its a shame one of these teams have to lose because it has been a great series so far, and even as a Giant fan I'd be okay if the Royals came out on top because of there toughness & because they haven't been here in many years. But......................................GO GIANTS!

It has been a "good" series so far.
I also think the announcers are trying very hard and are doing a good job of embellishing it, praising various players along with Harold Reynolds suddenly becoming some kind of N.L. brown noser.
    Verducci is truly terrific.

It's always "exciting" whenever you get a competitive WORLD SERIES with all the coverage between two teams but lets face it - these teams have absolutely no star power, they're starting pitchers with the exception of Bumgarner, Ventura and Shields would have trouble making alot of teams' rotations....lol

Actually, this is what you have when you get two teams who couldn't break 90 wins during the reg season.

You would have to pay me to go see these two teams play each other during the regular season. But I will continue to watch some of this continuing 7 game series because it does determine the WS winner.
